I think Hector will play cos it's probably why Adkins bought him on as soon as the red happened. Give him some game time before Blackburn

I hope Hector gets the nod, saw him few times up here when he was with Aberdeen, comfortable on the ball, doesn't panic and can shoot, got a cracker from 25yds against Partick I think it was, definately looked the part, albeit that the SPL isnt the strongest league, but should have given him the confidence to do ok now back at the Mad Stad.

Did anybody else there on Sunday (or maybe it was shown on Sky?) notice that when Hector was subbed on immediately charged out onto the pitch (he made it quite far!) without waiting for Alf to come off, having to get called back by shouts from the 4th official? Hopefully just a lapse in concentration (after all we did only have 10 on the pitch!), rather than an issue with nerves or something else.

I still vote to play him though, give the guy a chance and hopefully his performances will draw some parallels to Morrison who had a bit of a baptism of fire in the PL after only really playing at L1 level previously. As others have said, he's a supposed up and coming talent (I've not seen much of him play, so cannot really comment) that is out of contract at the end of the season, so if we want to hang onto him, we'll have to show he can achieve his ambitions with us.

And If it all goes horribly Pete Tong mid game, we still have the option to bring Kelly on and put Gunter @ CB.

Yep, drop him and judge him by being excited and getting on pitch ASAP to do battle!

Play Hector. He's a specialist centre back and should be played when the situation warrants and merits it. Quite simply, you have to trust him, otherwise why else would Adkins have him in the squad? He's proven to be competent at lower levels for numerous clubs so now that we potentially have a problem at centre back you have to take that gamble and play him. How else are you going to find out if he can make the grade?

The best bit was when the 4th official told him he couldn't come on because no one had gone off he pointed at Pearce. You could see Crosby taking the piss and him laughing after.

Just excited and eager.

TBM Poll attached

The Royals have appealed Kaspars Gorkss' red card in Sunday's 3-1 win at Queens Park Rangers.

After reviewing video footage of the incident, we have contacted the FA to notify them of our intention to appeal.

We now have to make our submission with evidence by 1pm on Tuesday.

If the appeal is not successful, Gorkss would serve a four-match ban, having already been sent off this season for two yellow cards, away at Middlesbrough.

I'm bereft. 4 games without Gorkss. What am I going to do?

Worth an appeal as he did play the ball first all be a minimal touch plus he was not off the ground with the momentum of the tackle taking Hoillet out.

Play Hector. 100%.

Putting Gunter at CB IMO would lose us his attacking threat going forward and get rid of his and McCleary's great partnership down the right flank, plus Kelly at has been shit all season, even when played at RB against Forest.

If you still hate Futcher
Dave-Royal Ref was wrong to send Gorkss off in my mind it was never a sending off. he touch the ball frist than player !!

Doesn't matter - it's whether the ref deems that Gorkss was not in control of the challenge and/or it was dangerous

BTW - How far off is Morrison's return, last I heard it was mid Feb (i.e. now)

Morrison is meant to be back by march

According to Macleary he's a good ball playing centre half. I think he could be a great player for us but if we don't give him this chance it could be one of those that got away. Adkins must gamble

Play Gunter in the middle and switch McLeary to right back...... I didn't think Obita at left back was a great idea, but I was wrong there so now I'm fully embracing the wingers and wingbacks philosophy.

What are the options?
Gunter in the middle, Cummings at right back or possibly Kelly?
Hector in the middle, no change elsewhere on the pitch
Emergency central defender on loan - Might be a good call for the rest of the season if we can get someone of a higher quality than Gorks/Pearce/Hector (assuming Morrisson is out all season)
Akpan in central defence - I believe he could do it, however it would destroy the strong midfield partnership with Williams - Maybe an option if Karacan was fit.

I would go with Hector as no 1.

Royalwaster Play Hector and get an emergency loan signing .... at least as back up. We need a CB on the bench at the very least ... unless we've got someone else in the academy who could do that?

Sweeney, probably.
