Royal Lady Hetzke, Whitehurst, Moran, Bremner - 4 of the hardest players I've ever had for sure.

Wasn't joking, we've all had the Pm's and heard the rumours.

Or are you telling me not to believe second hand information?

From Despair To Where?
The Goat was fed RE: Sonko - He played on for 10 minutes having done his cruciate ligament in. Hard, foolish, ultimately ruined his career.

Tony Witter played for over 30 minutes with a broken leg but he was just a loanee
.

What about Bob Hazell?. Despite what Wikipedia seems to say though, I'm sure he was just on loan as well.

Bob Hazell was a beast of a man. he was "on Trial" i seem to remember meaning he was clubless i guess.

Floyd streete pretty hard.

What a complete load of cock. No Percy. No Hetzke.

Out of that list hard and/or lunatic are/were: Bikey, Whitehurst, Bomber, Hurlock, Tait and God.

Dennis Nelson should get a look in, and probably Gooding. Honourable mentions to Steve Death and Linden Jones.

You'd have to ask RL about that.

Think it was a game against Gillingham, Carl Asaba accused him of making racist comments aginst him. Mackie had to hold a press conference to state he was not a racist, I think during the press conference he was flanked by his two new best mates, Think it was Martin Williams and John Salako, just to prove he was not racist.

Pepe the Horseman In what way was Sonko hard, other than being black?

Southampton away, midweek, early in the 106 season. He stopped a fierce goal-bound shot from about 5 yards out by taking it full in the face on the goal line. He didn't flinch or even get knocked backwards into the goal. The guy was made of granite. That moment spawned the "Sonko is Superman" song.

Ipswich at home I think the "face save" was.

The Southampton header shown above with him outleaping 6 Saints players just added to it.

Yes it was:

http://www.royals.org/matdoc/161005.html

Match Report Down the other end Hahnemann dropped the ball under pressure and the resulting shot flew into Sonko's head and clear.

and

Match Report Ipswich might have scored again when Hahnemann was impeded and the ball fell to an Ipswich forward who must have been astounded to see the massive frame of Sonko launch himself in front of his goal bound shot and deflect the ball away with his head.

Thanks Brum. The memory must be going with age. Two reasons why Sonko was hard

Let's ignore Preston away the previous season where he cleared the ball into his own face and conceded a corner.

I thought it actually came from when he dived full length to block a shot - hence Superman.
