Ian Royal I'd say the best way to introduce younger players is to bring them into a team of established pros in ones or twos so they have the support around them and can be introduced gently. What I gather you're suggesting is just chuck in as much youth as possible right away.

That's a good way to say sink or swim, with the emphasis on sink rather than be supportive and aid development. Look at how it worked for Pearce, Karacan, Siggurdsson, McCarthy, Obita etc. following the steady introduction in ones and twos to an existing senior side.

It's such a stupid suggestion I glossed over it to start with because I assumed it was an attempt at humour. It seems from your staunch defence it was serious. :|

It was a joke based on how shit most of the 1st team are.
Sandman seems to be completely against the introduction of any youth at all though, which is even more absurd.

Gutrhie, Pogrebnyak, LeFondre and Drenthe will, with any luck, be nowhere near the club next year, so they can go on gardening leave. I hold them personally responsible for the poor quality of many performances this year.

McCarthy

Gunter
Obita
Pearce

Best case injury scenario: McCarthy; Gunter, Pearce, Hector/Morrison, Obita; McCleary, Williams, Guthrie, McAnuff; Pogrebnyak plus either Drenthe or Le Fondre
Subs: Feds, Morrison/Hector, Kelly, Legs, HRK, Blackman, Drenthe/Le Fondre

(Realistic) worst case injury scenario: McCarthy; Gunter, Pearce, Morrison, Obita; Drenthe, Tshibola, Taylor, McAnuff; Pogrebnyak, Le Fondre
Subs: Feds, Gorkss, S. Kelly, Kuhl, Tanner, HRK, Blackman

Assuming injuries to Guthrie, Williams, Hector, and Akpan, and setbacks for Bridge, Legs and McCleary.

We must play at least two proper central midfielders, though I would be content with McAnuff next to Williams (or if things really got desperate he'd be my next selection after Kuhl). Do we have a recall option for D'Ath?

Don't see what Guthrie has done that wrong and tbh I'd go as far as saying he is our best player and needs to be here next season

McCarthy
Gunter Pearce Morrison Obita
McCleary Guthrie/Williams depending on who is fit Leigertwood Drenthe
Pogrebnyak HRK

Federici, Hector, Bridge, McAnuff, Blackman, ALF, Tanner.

Alf hasn't really done much recently like a lot of the players but Alf is supposed to be one of our best finishers but his heights also goes against him...

Assuming we have the same list of injuries as Tuesday I would go with:

McCarthy

Gunter Morrison Pearce Obita

Blackman Drenthe Leigertwood HRK McAnuff

Pog

What we should have done on Tuesday basically!

I doubt very much that Kuhl will be available. He has played two cup games for the Academy (1st & 7th April) and a cup game for the Under 21s on 10th April with the second leg on 19th April. I think he played v Sunderland on 3rd April too (the report on the OS refers to the team as 'Kuhl's men' although I cannot find the team sheet) and the Under 21s also have a game on 14th April (same day as us v Leicester) although I would expect him to be rested for that too. The youngster has played a lot of football and mostly on larger premier league grounds.

Completely agree but people love to hate. He is one of the few I would keep.

He refused to play a game and probably more importantly was the result of a lot of criticism of Brian and to a lesser extent Leigertwood. That's what he's done wrong.

He's not set the place alight this season. Although he's still be one of our 'best' performing players. Better at the start of course, which his detractors can conveniently ignore.

Having a fully fit Karacan, Guthrie & Williams next season would be pretty damn good. At this point, I'd think about offering Legs another 1 yr deal as well. (On less £ of course).

I think that would be a pretty awesome midfield 3. Although a little lacking in goals.

Maybe a little, but when we've pushed Williams up-field a bit even when he hasn't scored he's looked dangerous. If we didn't play so deep, and could sort out his injuries, I recon he'd make up the shortfall.

With Current Injuries

McCarthy

Gunter
Pearce
Morrison
Obita

Mcleary
Leigertwood
Taylor
Mcanuff
Blackman

Pogrebynak

3 in middle, Mcanuff might be able to hide away and get away with it or put Bridge Left back and obita centre mid. I cant wait untill Mcanuff has gone on a free to another club in the championship so we can slaughter him

Of all the maverick wasters on the field, you have a problem with McAnuff....why exactly?

His antics vs Barnsley or Huddersfield ( can't remember tried to blank them out) really did grind me gears and he isn't our best winger. Lost all of his pace, this year and that was his best attribute, he has shown glimpse of that pace, when he won that penalty the over day, However the most annoying thing is that he is our captain yet when the going gets tough, Jobi gets going. Mind you that seems like a lot of our team this season

Said it before, I'll say it again: you may as well just play Leigertwood in midfield. HRK doesn't have a defensive bone in his body and Drenthe is totally wasted there.

We need proper central midfielders. Failing that, McAnuff. Failing that, Hector. Only then should we look at hexagonal pegs - and personally I'd rather go for Cummings or Kelly than Drenthe, HRK or Blackman.

He had a few good games until Karacan got injured, and wasn;t bad for a while, but got found out and was hopeless by Christmas: slowing it down, losing the ball when put under pressure and unable to do much more than pass to Pearce of McCarthy. Akpan has generally been a better option since January.

I would agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
