Winchester Royal The only way it will rely on GD between us and Brighton is if we lose and Brighton draw, as their GD will remain at 14 and ours will decrease below 14. In that event we'd finish below them, and would have to rely on Wigan losing both their games, which would send them out. Only caveat is if there is a 7 goal swing between us and Blackburn, in which case Blackburn will overtake us.

I just have a horrid feeling this is going to end in heartbreak. To lose out on the final day when you've been top 6 all season would suck.

Really hope I'm wrong but hey we thought it was over when we went 1-0 down today so you never know.

Brighton will blatantly beat Forest though - the home fans will be disgruntled & the team have naff all to play for. We need to win to get top 6 I'm 100% sure of that.

Reading 2-1 Burnley. In on 73.

Forest 1-3 Brighton. In on 72.

Birmingham 1-0 Wigan
Blackburn 3-3 Wigan. Out on 71.

Oh, it almost definitely will. We can all live in hope before our final home defeat of the season next week.

The fact Forest couldn't get up for it today against a team who had the previous evening, been eliminated from the race tells you all you need to know really. Especially given if they won both games, only Reading were in the way.

I have zero faith they'll get a result against Brighton.

They haven't won at Forest since 2004.

The whole having nothing to play for thing often has no real bearing on results. Forest will now be playing completely pressure free whereas Brighton will have the opposite. The same applies to Reading and Burnley of course.

Must admit it would be LOL's all round if Wigan did miss out. Everyone up to now has pretty much assumed they have 5th spot wrapped up.

Latest odds on the play off places.

Wigan 1/7
Reading 1/5
Brighton 7/4
Blackburn 40/1

The bookies are a lot more confident than I am! :|

Saw that myself & I was shocked at the difference between us & Brighton. Burnley have become a bit of a bogey side for us of late.

If we could nab 5th spot I'd fancy us to turn over QPR.

All eyes on Wigan on Tuesday night then....

Tricky one this - if we have designs of actually going all the way I'd rather QPR faced Wigan as they're the only team I think that can beat them. Would rather get 6th & take our chances against Derby.

My ideal scenario, is Reading and Brighton in 5th and 6th respectively and Wigan out (bogey side, good at Wembley), beat QPR in the semis and Brighton in the final. That would be amazing.

Just reading the Burnley forum & some of them are hoping we win so it fully eliminates the prospect of Blackburn getting 6th.

"Im up for a final day beating. 1-0 or up to 7-6 does me.

Close that 'b4stard door' as my dad used to say."

As stated on the GF forum, Forest really screwed up, firstly by firing Billy Davies, and secondly by allowing Pearce to only take over at the end of the season. Pearce is a one trick pony - getting a team motivated and pumped up for a short period of time, which would have been ideal for Forest over the last few weeks.

Hopefully the Forest players will raise their performance for both their last home game, and also to show their new manager that they are worthy of a place in his squad next season.

Blackburn have too large a GD gap to make, whilst I can't see Wigan stuffing up against an utterly gash Brum side so will secure their play off spot, so the last spot will be between us and BHA. I can see BHA and Forest drawing so as long as we don't lose to Burnley we will make it.

Please can Wigan lose on tuesday. I personally don't care if we go up, I just want to beat QPR.
