Royal Rads To be fair palace this year has managed to survive with spending not to much more than what we did last time out, with the right manager and a couple of signings in the right area it can be done but either way we go up means at worst we get a nice pay packet that means despite ownership situation we can stay a little more financially secure for a while

maffffRoyal Rads To be fair palace this year has managed to survive with spending not to much more than what we did last time out
Summer signings:
Stephen Dobbie (Brighton & Hove Albion) Undisclosed fee, left out of 25 man squad.
Dwight Gayle (Peterborough United) £8.5m
Jerome Thomas (West Bromwich Albion) Free
Jose Campana (Sevilla) Undisclosed. £2m.
Elliot Grandin (Unattached) Free
Marouane Chamakh (Arsenal) Undisclosed. Around £1.5m.
Neil Alexander (Unattached) Free
Florian Marange (Unattached) Free. Left out of 25 man squad.
Jason Puncheon (Southampton) Loan fee paid, that went up to £1.75m to make permanent (incl. loan fee)
Jimmy Kebe (Reading) Undisclosed. £2.5m upfront, 30k per week.
Jack Hunt (Huddersfield) Undisclosed. Around £2m.
Adrian Mariappa (Reading) Undiscosed. Around £2m upfront, up to £3m upon survival.
Barry Bannan (Aston Villa) Undisclosed. £500k upfront, £2m upon PL survival.

That's £24m or so, and a hell of a lot on wages.
January:
Tom Ince loan. £1m.
Wayne Hennessy £3m.
Joe Ledley: £1m.
Scott dann: £1.5m plus add ons.
£6.5m
Total about £30m spent on transfers. Dread to think what they have paid on wages, too.
3points A bit more detail if anyone interested
Income
2013 2012
Media & Broadcasting £43.7m £5.1m
Matchday income £9.3m £5.6m
Commercial income £5.2m £3.1m
Rugby commission £0.6m £0.6m
Other £0.4m £0.3m
Total £59.3 £14.7
Therefore, being in the Prem was worth an extra £45m for the season (nearly all TV money). Operating costs went up from £36.9m to £62.4m (player numbers increased from 42 to 53) but this does include the amortisation of player transfer fees. So, in 2012 RFC made a loss of about £22m but only £2m in 2013.
In terms of the club's debt, it hasn't really gone up as the the loss is only a couple of million. It's moved around a bit (more is now owed to TSI than SJM) and the club also has deferred transfer fees of £2.8m still to pay. TSI owed £19.3m, SJM (via RFC Holdings) £9.8m.
We received £3.5m for Mariappa and Kebe

SCIAG You are of course right that Palace's spending has far outstripped ours. But, as you note, a lot of their signings were totally unnecessary. Remove the players that haven't contributed, and if your fees are accurate that's £11.5m if they stay up and £9m otherwise, plus the wages of 7.
If they had avoided vanity signings like Gayle and a bunch of players they didn't use, their spending would be comparable to ours (once you account for signing on fees for Pogrebnyak, Guthrie and McCleary - and, to be fair, excluding Blackman, Sweeney and Carrico).
Hull's summer spending was comparable to ours, again if you factor in Pogrebnyak's perks. And the same for Norwich and Swansea when they were first promoted.

That is just nonsense.
Hull's Summer signings:
Huddlestone - £5 million
Davies - £2.3 million
Elmohamady £2 million
Sagbo - £1.5 million
McGregor - £1.5 million
Loans:
Livermore (full season)
Graham (6 months)
Frees:
Harper
Boyd
Figueroa
You're mad if you think "Pogrebnyak's perks" bridge the gap between what we spent and what they spent.

Lol, so if you discount all of Palace's signings that would take their expenditure over ours, then they have spent about the same. Makes sense.
If you discount Fernandinho, Negredo, Navas and Jovetic, City spent about the same as us.
