Pearce?? Not for me. Passion doesn't hide the fact he's a poor player.

Gunter for me all day long.

Gunter is a great choice IMO. Acknowledges the fans, well mannered & all the good stuff off the pitch that you'd want from a captain.

Plus on the pitch, when he did take the armband he really stepped up to the mark. You want someone who will play each week & he is a shoe in to start if we are lucky enough to still have him come August.

Gunts is my bff, but I think he'd be a terrible shout for captain. He's a nervous wreck at the best of times, he doesn't need the pressure of being captain as well. Let him concentrate on continuing to improve his own game.

He'd have to start improving his game first.

Well I think he has been fcuking superb & properly stepped up to the mark at the back end of this season. The lads got balls I say.

He would step up to the mark but he got caught out of position and lost it.

Karacan should be our spiritual leader

Fine by me, because I don't need or want a spiritual leader. He talks enough bollocks to qualify that's fo sho.

Federici.

Bit of Aussie fighting spirit wouldn't do any harm.

Or Akpan of course.

Not Guthrie. Unquestionably technically one of our best players, but he's far too negative when things go wrong. There needs to be a bit of a bite but I suspect that nearly all of us have seen him laying into someone for not giving him he ball, which isn't on.

D-Will would be my choice, if he can stay fit for more than a game at a time

I'd definitely say Willaims should be given a shot, seems to be a fantastic leader on and off the pitch and hes making all the right noises about being settled here and being patient about getting to the premier league etc wanting to do it with us.

Don't think we have a logical captain. Karacan is too mad, Pearce, whilst genuine may not have the respect of all the players as he can't really play football. Gunter too quiet, Guthrie too confrontational, Morrison not ready, Too many players not happy with Pog's salary compared to theirs.Unsure of his personality but Williams seems the only real possibility. He can play football, he puts in 100% effort and he's in midfield which is an easier location to motivate defence and attack. I would imagine he has the respect of the other players as well.

As much as I agree Pearce has spirit and passion he's old school. We need a complete overhaul of our style and the leader of that needs to be a shining example of it. Therefore it can't be Pearce despite his step overs.

Gunts for me. Intelligent, popular, and leads by example in terms of effort on the pitch. Contrary to Pepe I think it would give him the confidence to become a better player.

The best captain for the team is not necessarily the person us outsiders would expect. I have no idea what Gunter is like as a person, or whether players respect Pearce. We also don't know what the plans are for next season.
However if the captain is primarily a public face then Pearce is by far the best option. Whether he's also the natural leader of the squad I don't know.
It's all a bit irrelevant though, the natural leaders will lead with or without an armband and it's not like a football captain has any real job on the pitch unlike in cricket or rugby.
So give it to Pearce , he'll make all the right noises and relate to the fans
