MmmMonsterMunch I think the club have been incredibly stupid not to offer him another year. Harder to replace than Jobi IMO.

He was fooking superb on Sat as well.

Good luck for the future Leigertwood. You are an absolute don at championship level.

Seems like a strange view with Guthrie, Williams, Karacan, Akpan, Kuhl and Tshibola all on the books. We need to cut that down significantly and whilst we might prefer to get rid of say, Guthrie and Akpan... they need buyers. Ledge is an easy and immediate cut back with no financial penalty.

A great servant. Had a massive impact in his loan spell. In my view he topped & tailed the promotion run 2 years ago. Most see that as starting when Anton arrived an we signed Jason Roberts. That took us up a gear. But the season was going nowhere until Leigertwood destroyed West Ham's midfield just before Christmas that season. That day he could have run through brick walls. Then he scored the promotion-winning goal v Forest.
A shame the Prem looked a step too far for him (among many) and a greater shame how he was treated by certain sections of the crowd. It was great to see him back on form against Burnley. He will be missed.

+1

And against Burnley, looked trimmer, fitter and more capable than we have seen from many this season.

You are right but I'd still love to keep him. He is totally reliable & you know what you're going to get. We would have got play offs if he'd been fit a month earlier IMO.

If we'd had him to play rather than Hector, or McAnuff, or Obita in midfield? Yeah, we'd almost certainly have picked up an extra point or two in that little run of games.

When he first came in on loan I thought he did really well, was a big part of the side that raced into the play offs. Thought he was great overall in 2011/12 too and deserved to score that goal that sealed our promotion.

Shame about the last 2 seasons, as it's clouded what was otherwise a very successful time for both him and our club. Glad that he got to play a bit at the end of this season and did well, another shame that it didn't end better. I thank him and wish him all the best.

He'll go somewhere like Millwall or Charlton and he'll be worth two or three positions in the league to them.

genome I'm pleased his last match for us was a blinder.

Agree would have made the play offs easy if he had just played a hand full of games more.

Ledge by name and by nature.

Top man, great Championship player, and I would have thought he would have been great to have around the club to help develop the young midfield talent we have.

Looked great against Burnley, and we missed his solidity in midfield this season. Would have loved to have seen him sitting in behind Danny Williams.

We missed him this season and I'm sure that will be the case next season as well. Top professional who will be as much of a credit to whichever club he joins next as he was to ours.

maffff I had him. Very few players have had that honour.

I miss him.

I can't match the depth of your feelings, but obviously the club is a poorer place without him.

The club obviously had a problem cutting the wage bill, but IF they could have got rid of 1-2-3 of the big earners
(and I think Elwood would take a lower salary now)

He would be perfect as captain of a side blooding more than 1-2 youngsters

He's exactly what we have missed, that "massive" just in front of the back four

Shameless Tilehurst End plug, but my in-depth thoughts on Mikele Leigertwood. http://thetilehurstend.sbnation.com/201 ... -you-ledge Didn't think I was fiercely pro-Leigertwood until I started writing the article, but when you look back you realise just how pivotal a player he was. When he played well, Reading played well.

I think when we signed him we were about 14th? And finished 5th. So make that 9 positions!

I'd love to compare our win ratio with Leigertwood in the team to that without him over the past 4 years.

Anyone think it was a bit weird that Ledge did the Golden Gamble draw today? Clearly hasn't sorted out a contract elsewhere, which is a real shame (or perhaps he's in training at Hogwood ready to sign a short term contract to cover the current injuries)

He came into 1871 suite today, he's without a club as he's injured but said he isn't giving up hope of re-signing now the new owners are almost in.
