Although officially a RFC player, he never actually played a first team game for us.

He made just one appearnce for Southampton as a sub but, famously, didn't actually touch the ball once!

Someone remind me how much we paid for him.

We signed him on a free but including his wages, i'm guessing it would have cost Reading overall, about 1.5/2 million

Even though he was out on loan for most of his 8 months with us?

jellytot When you consider wages against performances he must be in top 3.
He may not be the best value for money signing but you have to blame those who signed him for that, As he came from Russia I'm thinking there may have been some influence from Anton's side of the table as I don't think Nigel Adkins has been out there and I doubt our scouting network extends that far.

It's now down to the club to get the best out of the player and the way they treated him prior to the January window closing was a disgrace.

Come off it.

His hat-trick against Reading University will live long in the memory.

If they are getting rid of Royston to pay for 4 other players why not completely wipe the slate clean and get rid of Pog and start afresh?

A professional player who was less successful for Southampton than Ali Dia.

Someone doesn't remember football before 2005. There have been plenty of shit players sign for Reading. A lot of them far worse than Drenthe.

A front like attack force of Paul Brayson and Keith Scott springs to mind.

Wasn't a big fan of Fae for obvious reasons, thought Howard never really matched his hype but for me the worst signing has to be Daniel Carrico because he actually broke into my house and threw all my cutlery into the garden.

Handsome Man Probably. He is probably in the top three of the worst players we have ever had.

You must have a very short memory, or you're very young?

Worst signing - definitely not. Disappointing - yes. He scored, he assisted, he got us excited with his potential. Compare that to about half of Tommy Burns's seven signings on deadline transfer day or £6m worth of disappointment in Fae and Halford. The list before Drenthe is very long. Omar Daley anyone!???

Keith Scott, Paul Brayson, Ray Houghton, Michael Meaker, Paul Bodin, Bobby Mikhailov... we could be here all day.

He's not even the worst signing in our current squad.

I thought you said he was overpriced, went missing in big games and was too much of a liability?
