On the basis of what? Easy to say things like that, so I will counter with the claim that McCarthy would not have pulled off the great double save at feet, which Feds did!

I reckon he'd have saved the second Forest goal. And the second Huddersfield one.

Agreed - he wouldn't have had to make the second one.

Right now that defence needs a commanding goalie who will own the box on crosses. That's not Feds.

very easy to say so and so would have done this or that I know but I have to agree and say McCarthy would have got down to the 2nd forest goal. It was a particularly poor goal to concede as it was not hit with any real pace. Both of our keepers are good and both have their weaknesses but I would be happier with Alex in goal.

Yeah and then he'd have thrown it straight to their centre forward.

I cannot believe how confident you all supposedly are with McCarthy in goal, would love to know what drugs you're on.

I could say the same about those who have an unshakeable belief in Federici

Ifs and buts but what we do know is that McCarthy can't kick a ball properly for toffee

I don't know that. I do know I've seen both our keepers kick badly. I also know Federici's positioning worries me a hell of a lot more than McCarthy's kicking.

I also know both are good Championship keepers, we probably can't sustain having both of them, and no one has shown any interest in Federici. Which, is a shame in my opinion.

Bye bye Alex McCarthy QPR transfer news: Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy set for £6million Loftus Road move
24 August 2014 10:30 PM By John Cross
Despite Rob Green starting the campaign between the sticks, Redknapp is willing to splash out to provide competition to the former England No 1
Mark Thompson
In action: Alex McCarthy
Harry Redknapp is closing in on a deal for Reading’s £6million-rated keeper Alex McCarthy.

Queens Park Rangers boss Redknapp wants a new keeper to challenge Rob Green for the No 1 jersey.

Former England Under-21 keeper McCarthy is one of the most highly rated prospects in the country and Reading fear they will lose him this summer.

Arsenal enquired about McCarthy, 24, this summer but were put off by the £6m price tag but the keeper must surely be tempted by a move back to the Premier League to boost his England prospects.

A new No 2 is required at Loftus Road after Julio Cesar’s move to Benfica and they have now looked to open negotiations with Reading.

Redknapp is hopeful of tying up a deal for McCarthy in the next few days as QPR look ‎to strengthen their squad.

£6 millolion for McCarthy.....really?.......anything like that and that's very, very good money for a player that is (genuinely) surplus to our requirements.

Thanks and Bye Alex

£6m would be good business to anyone except QPR. This is Harry oxf*rd Redknapp people. We should be aiming for £12m out of that oxf*rd.

If McCarthy goes to QPR he's dead to me.

I like Macca but £6m would be ludicrous. I expect it'll be more like £3m with add-ons, but even that's great business with less than 12 months left on his deal.

IF the rumours of these figures are true and that's a big if then it could be an exiting week assuming that the Thais will happily reinvest some of it. £6m for Mac, £4m for Morro and £2.5 for Le Fondre totals a healthy pot of money.

Even being linked with the likes of Bamford, Hooper etc. has shown we've already come on a long way in the last month or so. But as I say I doubt these transfer fees are true and they will include some sort of instalments or add-ons.

Yep, good business for the club, just a shame that we end up with Federici in goal.
