urz13 Is Tarique Fosu-Henry our only fit winger? Apart from Drenthe of course (madness that he isn't being used)

Some people really have a weird obsession with Drenthe, he will have to turn over a massive oxf*rd leaf before he ever even gets close to the Reading team again, his history speaks for itself, a swift decline from Real Madrid to Reading, causing problems wherever he goes.

The club have been 100% right to freeze him out, as for wingers, we have Edwards and Mackie can play on the wing.

Personally, at present I would happily have a mass murderer play for us if they were a) better than the alternative b) not injured.

@charles_watts: Adkins says club will be reviewing its training/treatment methods. But also point out many are out injured because of bad tackles #readingfc

16 players out in injury is insane!

i have NEVER seen an injury crisis this bad, in any sport, even american football where there are double the squad sizes to proper football!

But with the right preparation, muscle strength etc. you stand far more chance of coming through a bad tackle without a serious injury (serious being more than perhaps a game out).

Am I right in thinking that in the past clubs have managed to get games postponed because a large number of their normal first team players are out with the 'flu?

If so, does a similar provision apply for large numbers of players being medically certified as being unfit to play due to injury?

But they can't each play in 2 or 3 positions at once!

I'd say right now we have a team along the lines of:

Federici
Gunter, Pearce, Cooper, Long
Blackman, Kuhl, Norwood, Mackie
Tanner
Cox

Pretty patchwork team to be fair, need to get players fit asap.

Keep up please.

Blackman is having an MRI scan on his knee and is likely to be out for several weeks!

You haven't named any subs either!

There's so much data available on every player now, that poor training practices will show up eventually. If our sports scientist wants to keep his job, I should think he's trawling through pages of data.

In view of the current situation wasn't it foolish at Scunthorpe to ask Cummings and Blackman to play on after receiving their injuries ?

In hindsight, absolutely. I think I remember on the commentary that Luke Anthony signalled to the bench both times, telling them to give it five minutes. And after both incidents, I think Dellor said that that both seemed to be running without any obvious signs of a problem.

Fine lines I guess.

Oh oops, was meant to put Edwards there, not Blackman.

Are you seriously gonna believe that the training methods used by the 1st Team is not been created by NA.
Does he not say time and time again that "Training was excellent" at the start of each interview.
Is it not obvious to you that NA only picks his side on the basis of how hard they work in Training.
No one can deny that the players are very fit but if you want marathon runners then go to any Berkshire Athletic Club.

I can suggest a few

Ffs

My concerns over training was when we had 12 out. 16 is a joke.

I really don't see how you can blame training for knee injuries caused by fouls.

Except we don't have 16 players out with knee injuries caused by fouls...

All 16 are knees? Even NA told CW today they are now reviewing training and medical.

You haven't read everything above then. Proper conditioning (and I include that in the term 'training') of leg muscles can reduce incidence and severity of knee injuries caused by fouls. Yes, you still get fouled but you are less likely to pick up an injury and, even if you do, it is likely to be less severe.

I have been told that by a number of specialists, physios and sports scientists who have treated my kids for knee injuries in the past.

RoyalBlue Subs?

Admittedly I struggled there to think of what players we had, something like:

Andersen, Griffin, L.Kelly, Stacey, Fosu, Taylor, Sweeney.
