Problems with our throw-ins > problems with our corners.

I don't think most people do get genuinely excited about a goal being imminent. You do need to balance your argument with the fact that your attack is at its most populated and organised as well.

It's a medium risk / high impact to play a short corner / back to midfield every time if you've got everyone up. And if you don't have everyone up then I'd say it's high risk and of little benefit as the defence won't pack the defence and will be out covering the pitch.

+1 to Hendo on the throw ins. We lose possession far too often with them. We're far too slow and far too predictable on them as well.

It's pretty basic and provides zero ability to compare to in play rates. If I've read it right it says the scoring rate from shots at corners (which varies considerably between teams from 0 to 0.25!) is basically the same when averaged as the scoring rate from in play shots. So the true comparison would be a way to measure the provided info about how frequently a corner produces a shot (and this is only within three touches - so you're instantly dismissing some scrambles or half-clearances), compared to normal play.

And it also fails to distinguish between short and long corners.

I'm not for a second saying this is a particularly fair or accurate comparison, but the closest I can come to one is that scoring from 1 in 50 corners is like scoring within 3 touches of 1 in 50 passes. Which suddenly sounds far less bad, doesn't it.

Certainly it doesn't work to just compare it to crosses, or crosses + through balls. Because the corner gives you a guaranteed chance to attack the box, whereas in play doesn't give you a guaranteed chance of a cross or through ball.

Oh, and 22% of our goals this season have come from set pieces, which doesn't seem too bad.

However innacurate those stats may be, it was still those sort of figures compared with the number of corners we've conceded from this season that raised my concerns.

More rubbish yesterday. 12 corners, and we didn't get a header in from one of them

Yes, Obita's delivery was horrendous. Although he wasn't the only one taking them.
