Adkins: The right decision?

Really depends whether they have someone else lined up and how quickly they appoint a replacement. If they allow things to drag on it could be a huge mistake in my view.
Also pissed off with that attention seeking hanger on Samrit saw fit to post a goodbye message on Facebook hours before the official announcement. What a way to treat a guy who stuck with the club despite being conned into taking it with promises that were never fulfilled.

Like the McDermott sacking this was the inevitable and correct decision after the last couple of months decline from an already low starting point.

I'm sure he's been hampered by things at the club that are out of his control but he's still failed to turn things around or get anywhere near the best out of this squad.

A new voice and a fresh start is needed now. It at least shows that someone somewhere is pulling the strings and capable of making a decision as well.

I need an on-loan defender to come I and make an impact and then try and hit the ball out of the stadium.

I don't need 70% possession. I just need the ball a few times in the back of the opposition net.

I want to scream and shout at something exciting. Not pretty. Give me 2 goals against West Brom in the last few minutes. Give me a scrambled, messy, 2 nil get 4 injuries against Leeds. But give me something to sing about! I can't sing "We've had more of the ball than you". I don't care!!

Yep spot on. The last time I enjoyed watching Reading was Jan 2013 when BM got MOTM & it was "Reading time" on SSN. Quite sad to think that was 2 years ago. God it's been depressing since then!

RFC is about players fighting until their last breath & never giving in, scoring late goals & staging crazy comebacks, pacey wingers beating their man, getting good crosses in, hard working strikers who run the channels & backs to the wall defending. It is part of our DNA & it's what we've become accustomed to.

We've seen none of this under Adkins and I am relishing the prospect of hopefully seeing a return to the Reading Way for sure.

Indeed possession certainly does not equal excitement. I'd be interested to see how much of our 65% possession on Saturday was with our back four.

Careful what you wish for. There is nothing exciting about playing route one when your strikers have no pace or bottle. You might imagine that agricultural defending lets you get great results every time, but you are more likely to be given the runaround by championship teams with strong legs and decent passing, like Swansea in the play-off final, than beat Barcelona because they don't like it up em. There is a right way to play football, and Adkins had it in mind for all Reading teams for the next few years.

Whilst I feel Adkins was let down (a la Rodgers) he really hasn't got the best out of a technically good group of players. The squad is unbalanced and too expensive. It only seemed to be going one way and I think it was either now or leave it until the end of the season, so far enough.

But there are questions remaining as to what a new manager will be able to do. The only hope is we get someone who can motivate the players and get them playing as a team.
