Alex Pearce - Captain

by Struggle Pig » 20 Dec 2014 21:28

I've voted "Yes".

I'm really hoping the captaincy choice today, will spark Pearce back to his pre-contract debacle form, of 3/4 years ago. I had been thinking it is time for him to move on, however, a new manager has come in and and in his first match, selected him as captain, Clarke can clearly see something in him.

I hope it works out.

I thought Pearce should have been made captain after Ingimarsson left to be honest. I'm quite happy with Karacan as captain and Pearce as vice, but he certainly deserves to be ahead of Gunter in the pecking order.

Really, only one man should captain Reading for the next 20 years and it isn't any of those three.

I voted "YES" simply because his name isn't Chris Gunter

Adkins biggest mistake was making the mentally weakest, lightest weight defender stand in captain and sticking with him. No wonder the players gave up so often with the gutless one leading.

Pearce is the obvious choice. No surprise Gunter had one of his best games of the season the second he no longer had to contend with the responsibility of leadership.

Pearce >>> Gunter as captain

Clarke has already made a good choice with that one!!!

Just wonder whether Adkins thought Gunter would only be a short term appointment as team captain while Karacan got back to full fitness and starting regularly. Let's not forget that it looked like Karacan was getting close to a return after a few weeks of the season and took part in some of the pre-season work, only to have several set backs.

Expect Pearce will keep it now, even with Jem fit and in the team.

Should have been given the club captaincy at the start of the season.

Especially with Clarke calling Jem "the previous Captain" on BBCRB yesterday.
