andrew1957 To be fair provided it is a short term deal to the end of the season, this seems to me to be exactly what we need. If the Pog gets injured we have no one who can be a presence up front - as Cox et all need to feed off a central striker.

Basically if Pog gets injured again we are screwed so this seems to me a squad signing and makes a lot of sense.

We can look to the longer term in the summer.

Agreed

As a short term, relatively cheap deal, he's better than what we've got and i don't see any better options.

Winston Smith
Death's Glove It could be quite a good signing, just don't sit him next to HRK on the team bus.

Why? Is HRK a racist or something?

Why? - They wouldn't be very comfortable :º/

Dunno about HRK's political views, but I doubt it.

A simple flow chart will help us here:

Yak > Cox > Blackman <> HRK.

Therefore.....IN!

This signing would certainly be a surprise if it came off but I can see where the club are coming from.

We are unlikely to go up or down this season, so the club are unwilling to spend a large sum now when prices are inflated and we will be having a mass clear out in the summer anyway. If there was a chance of us heading out of the division in either direction, I think the fans may be justified in expecting more but this is just a stop gap to get us to the end of the season. After the season is over and we can get the high earners off the wage bill, the FFP regulations will change and we will be better placed to build a new forward line.

There will be questions over Yakubu's fitness and the level he has been playing at most recently, but if he can still finish and has a bit of pace it should be a good short term solution to our goal scoring problems. I'd be amazed if he has been given more than a 6 month deal.

And let's face it, he is only 10 months older than Glenn Murray, who we were previously looking to spend millions on. The alternative is Vibe, but he isn't exactly one for the longer term and is a complete unknown quantity in English football.

Thumbs up from me.

Feed the Yak and he will score....... or at least be pleasantly rotund.

Amazed how some fans can manage to convince themselves that Yakubu would be a good signing.

If another club in the division had signed him they'd be laughing their heads off, as fans of other clubs are doing at us right now on social media.

Let's see if they are laughing when he gets on the pitch before we write the guy off completely.

He's probably only being lined up in the event that one of the big earners (Guthrie, Pog, McCleary even...) are on their way.

Fcuking hell, BBC website has someone who plays Football Manager highlighting players to watch. He's just mentioned Michael Hector because he's now worth £7.25m on his current game.

Do the club accept bitcoins?

Apparently we've put in a bid for Cherno Samba.

Please no, a million times no.

This could be the most depressing transfer since we got Ferdinand and Keown.
