Jones the Steam "This [Bolton] was the biggest game of the week. And the biggest game of next week will be Brighton at home."
That sounds almost like a quote from SSC, but Steve Clarke hasn't been knighted yet - I really hope he has the intelligence to be joking here. On any level - commercial, historical, whatever you like - how is the difference between comfortably above the relegation zone and slightly less comfortably above the relegation zone (with 10 games still to play) more important than the SF of the FA Cup?
Think he is simply reminding the players and fans what is important.. League over cup.
Yes we'd all love to win on Sat, but losing wouldn't actually be the end of the world - Clarke would keep his job, no players would leave, the financial situation would not worsen.
Don't perform in the league, and Clarke loses his job, we go down - and it's a looooong way back from there.
Saying that, if we lose on Sat
and go down.. well.. that would be poo.
