Best performance in FA Cup

by Delboy » 19 Apr 2015 10:55

I have been supporting Reading for 50 years, got to be our best FA cup performance considering the opposition and 11-1 to win. Whole day was great, at the Torch pub and standing singing with family and friends for two hours.
Really think we some good buys in the summer and renewed support from the fans we can have a good season next year, URZ.

Hopefully our success means more players will be attracted to the club and so we can have higher quality players for next season

I still remember the away game at Everton in 2011 when RFC won 1-0. On the night was a better team performance than yesterday.

In terms of team performance, yesterday was better than both Liverpool in 2010 and Everton in 2011. Also, I was less frozen yesterday than I was at the other two!!

I thought Arsenal were below par yesterday. Something missing.

More to do with our set-up I thought.

Coquelin. Danny had him in his pocket throughout the game.

Unfortunately it takes more than a good cup run to attract better players, otherwise Wigan wouldn't be about to face a second relegation in three years. If anything it could have the opposite affect. We could have some of our better players pinched by Premier sides.

it was a great day out yesterday and the team played above their usual level of performance but if Arsenal had been more clinical in their finishing we should've been dead and buried long before extra time. Also we shouldn't forget three blinding saves from Feds.
I would agree that the Everton performance takes some beating. I also remember Reading playing Arsenal's double winning side in 1972 and playing exceptionally well. At the time we were a division four side and ran the league champions and cup holders ragged for most of the game, eventually losing to an unlucky deflection (which is the Reading way).

When i heard their line-up I turned to my son and said it wasn't the strongest team they could put out. I'd definitely had started Walcott due to his pace. Ozil, Cazorla and Ramsey just all wanted to play in the same place all game. Ramsey isn't a right midfielder and Welbeck was very quiet most of the game.
