He strikes me as the sort of chap who'll have no problems kicking shit around the dressing room and yelling at the team when they need a kick up the arse, but i can't picture him picking up a team low on confidence. Who knows, we'll see.

Uke Could it be that SC is following in the footsteps of SC?

And SC would be a better fit as DOF than NH in this setup

I just think Coppell would suit Clarkes way of no nonsense low key working.

Give Coppell the part of the job he has no interest instead of a bloke with a decade of no nonsense low key working behind him ?

Genius idea !!

Glowing references for taking over from an excellent and established Championship DoF

I still think SC would work well with SC. That's all I said it doesn't need to be qualified against others.

But the Director of Football role is different at every club. No way would Coppell do the job here, he stated when he was here that having Hammond take the hassle of transfer negotiations and contract renewals off his hands was a big part of why he enjoyed the job here.
Are you suggesting we should create another role 'Football Director' or something to do some unclear job ? can't say there seems an obvious need for anyone to be put in above Clarke.

I am suggesting SC could work well with SC because IMHO they share a similar outlook. He could be a DOF here now just as easily as he welcomed someone having that role to allow him to concentrate on his own duties back then

That isn't to say NH isn't doing a good job or doesn't work well with SC. In the context of my narrow comment it's not relevant.

I guess we're on a different wavelength here !
Maybe the two SC's could be good buddies, maybe they do talk informally although I would expect SC2 has his own network he turns to. I just don't see SC2 needing anyone to oversee him on the football side and I don't think SC1 could, or would want to do the DofF role at Reading that Hammond does.
I'm guessing we'll never find out...

Looks like the clear out of Taylor on loan and paying off Akpan's contract to release him to go on a free to Blackburn has freed up some movement to bring Chalobah back in...which would be a great bit of business... 8)

If it's permanent that's gravy. Otherwise we're far more in need of wingers or strikers.
