Royal_Biscuit Can't say he stood out in the friendly on Saturday, but that's not necessarily a bad thing

I dare say if he stood out in an Espanyol team he wouldn't be coming on loan to Reading FC.

looking on Wikipedia (which is famous last words) he was seen as a prospect by Mourinho when he was at Madrid. This may well be Clarkes old friend giving him a pointer

I'd have been surprised if you remembered anything anybody did on Saturday, apart from the obvious.

My mate just spoken to a hardcore espanyol fan whose in the know and reckons that apparently he´s a bit of a wizzard on the ball, the downside is though, he reckons he doesn´t like it when it he gets too many hard tackles and seems to go off the boil a bit.....could be a worry for a freezing wednesday nighter in Rotherham where hes going to hget lumped every five minutes but there you go

Found a short (and poorly filmed) highlights reel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0pAetZ9884

It starts with him shinning one in to the top corner from four yards out!

Nameless
gazzer, loyal royal
Nameless So that would give us Norwood, Williams, Quinn, Tishbola and Alex. Assume Kuhl is on loan in Spain for the season and Akpan moves on that gives us 5 for 2 or 3 places which is just about Ok, although I'd probably want 1 more.
No idea I'd Alex is any good, there was one midfielder for Espanyol on Saturday who stood out but no Ida who he was. Number 10 ?

Akpan has just bought a new house in Wokingham, so pretty sure he's been told he has a role to play

Loan deal at Wycombe would work then.
Players must take it as a part of the job that moves happen at awkward times. Feds still has his house in Winnersh, Harper never moved from Shinfield etc etc.

Loan move to Wokingham town more likely

Espanyol president Joan Collett has confirmed an agreement is in place which will see Alex Fernandez join Reading on loan.

The midfielder arrived in England yesterday and underwent a medical ahead of a season-long switch to Madejski Stadium.

Reading have yet to announce the deal, but Collett has told the Spanish media that the 22-year-old will spend the year in the Championship.

“We’re now exchanging documents for the loan,” he said. “It’s a loan for one year, for this season.

“Reading then have the option to buy Alex, but it’s not obligatory.”

According to reports in Spain, Reading will be able to land the former Real Madrid man for around £1.3 million at the end of the season.

From Saturday's friendly I remember him chasing down the ball and giving Norwood issues, I expect he will be a useful addition and a better player than the likes of Akpan and adds to SC increasing selection options and possibility to try and change a match. Still need that goalscorer to cap the team.

It has been mentioned that the buy-back clause for Madrid is holding it up?

This could be rubbish though.

Used to watch him when he was playing for Castilla, he's a tidy if unspectacular midfielder, reasonably good at everthing but not standout at anything in particular. A poor man's Busquets. Good player but i don't see as better than williams/quinn/norwood and prefer to have tish and kuhl as the back-up centre mids.

This is turning into quite an exciting summer. I like how Clarke has shaken everything up and this will hopefully revitalise our previously fading team.

So he is coming.

If Chalobah comes too, then we'll be overrun with midfielders. So I assume SC will maybe loan out Kuhl and Tshibola and play with a number 10?

Posted on the official website then quickly redacted...

"Oh dear, trust me. It's not all done yet. Think you will be seeing that disappear from the #readingfc website."

"Arrived home - no Fernandez. And it won't be happening today. Getting word this one is rumbling on. #readingfc"

Fernandez was due to be announced at 6pm, but #readingfc didn't get all the paperwork in time. No biggy, just have to wait a bit longer.
