What a signing! This has now 100% been the best transfer window I can remember. Guaranteed goals in the Champ with Vydra and if Hec goes I'd like another CB but even if that doesn't happen i'll be over the moon. URZ!

All eggs in one basket? Not sure what you mean by that.

Getting these players in on loan is, if anything, the more prudent and frugal way of doing things as we aren't having to commit to expensive long term contracts for players we might not be able to afford longer term.

In terms of it being all or nothing for Clarke, in this day and age it could well be that regardless of the level of funding this season. There aren't too many managers in the Championship that stay with a club more than 18 months without some success so an average season off the back of last seasons league form would probably spell doom for Clarke anyway.

Unless we get the lad from Wycombe I'd expect it will come too late for us to get another CB in. But Chelsea will either loan him back to us, or it'll give a chance to Cooper or Keown if and when Ferdinand gets injured which is all good by me.
