Curious and intriguing transfer window for the club if rumours of club record transfer fee spent on a single 1 year loan are anything to go by. Given the amount of 1 year loan deals we have made it is already now or never for this squad, pressure on to finish top 6 given the outlay. Question marks over the prospects of a number of these signings but the one thing which cannot be questioned now is the ambition of the owners :!: Clarke may now be a victim of those ambitions if he cannot deliver a top 6 finish this season.

An exciting few weeks and some good financial management where I would guess that the changes made in personnel will mean that the net costs are probably neutral.
With the wages of Jem, Pearce,Federici and significantly Pog gone plus the £4 million for Hector it looks as though the cost of the new signings and loans could well be covered.

It strikes me that with the positions of the incoming players the following are now vulnerable to Reserves type football or loaning out:-
HRK
Blackman
Cox
Norwood or Tshibola
Stacey
Fosu

I wouldn't be surprised if Clarke moves one or two of those on he then brings in a Murphy,Wood,Martin type of target man on loan as a different option.

Interesting days ahead and the fans have been given a lift by these signings and competition for places will surely mean a better finishing position this season.

I would say that due to the current 'loans in' situation*, we are unlikely to get anyone else in...even if one or two of your list above are shipped out.
*Only being able to use 5 loans max in any given matchday squad etc.

Maguire
Extended-Phenotype
Maguire One of them will turn out to be dogshit and one of them will keep picking up niggling injuries.

Take those away and it doesn't seem like such a problem, particularly with so many games in the Championship and the associated injuries, fatigue, and suspensions which will allow us to make full use of our squad..

Alright Maguire?

Yeah, tis true - it's nice to have a bit of proper depth again.

Not bad thanks mush, nice to see you.

More than anything I'm looking forward to the 0-1 reverse at home to Ipswich a week Friday and the MELTDOWN on here.

Ha! If our new 0-0-10 formation only concedes 1 goal, I'll be pretty impressed

Hoop Blah
Royal Rother Well I suppose it's all quite exciting in its way but the disconnect between (this) fan and club has grown again.

Ola John? Do me a favour.

And how many games have you been to over the last couple of seasons? Are you really the kind of fan that the club is really going to be worried about?

Not a single one and good grief no they won't be concerned in the slightest about my thoughts on the subject!!

Do we really think the likes of Hurtado, Piazon and John will be better than Jake Taylor and Ryan Edwards?

I am totally happy with the competition for the attacking 6 places in the team. Lots of variety and potential of game changing subs.

My one worry is Hector.

I would hope that Gunter, McShane, Ferdinand and obita will be solid all season and not rotated but I wonder how happy Chelsea will be if Hector has long spells on the bench?

And I don't really see him competing for a midfield spot.

What could Chelsea do about it?

Depends on the loan agreement, I guess ?

Recall him if he doesn't get enough game time

Under the terms of a "Temporary Loan" a recall option can only be activated unilaterally at the next window, so we could replace him anyway.

If loaning him back was part of the transfer then I don't think they can recall him.

If loaning him back was part of the transfer (and it clearly was) then there'll be some form of loan agreement
It may be one line - "Have him back for the season and do what you like"
It may be more specific about where or when we can/must play him.

We have no idea !!

I don't think Chelsea will have any interest in imposing conditions on us over Hector.
I also suspect he will never play for them, and may still be with us next season.
They've taken a little punt on a youngish, home grow player with some potential who may develop into a possible squad player, or will be saleable for a profit. He's not one of their own kids that they want to hothouse (not that they actually ever use any of them anyway !) so I reckon they will leave him with us, take a view each window and if we get promot,de we may even get first refusal at 6 million....

RoyallyFcuked So we still need a striker and creative midfield player to play behind in the no10 role. Do we think we will get them?

Surely there is at least one more coming in, particularly as the owners have said we are still looking for a striker...

Just thought I'd point it out that this guy's post in this thread on 23rd August had it spot on.

Even I didn't expect we would get both of them plus an extra winger but couldn't be happier with Piazon and Vydra as the choices.

I'd like to thank Steve Clarke for agreeing.

You can't recall season long loans.

The loan agreement can include an option to recall at the mid-season window.

I very much doubt we are paying £2.5m for someone who can oxf*rd off in January.
