Having a little re-watch. First goal, lovely little touch by Vydra to Blackman. Great cross, great header. Second goal, quality counter attacking. Three passes, on the deck, from our own six yard box. Lovely. That's as far as I've got...

Also, I always thought Brett Pitman was black.

I liked Orlando Sa calling Nick Blackman his friend.

Norwood's goal pretty much the perfect strike.

Most importantly of all, what do we think of Hunty as a pundit?

Lovely stuff. We were superb with the ball, and Ipswich are clearly no mugs.

Shame about Blackman's continuing shitness but you can't have everything.

Great performance all round. Some of the atttacking play was of the quality I don't think we've seen since 2007.

On a side note I thought John and Piazon looked to be very tidy footballers when they came on. And then you've still got the likes of McCleary and Hurtado waiting in the wings. The depth we now have is outrageous.

Obviously it's important not to get carried away...but right now that's quite hard..

A few weeks ago you could see we were a few pieces short in the Jigsaw. SC has now found those pieces and I believe we have the complete squad now to challenge for the top. There's a certain togetherness now that hasn't been there for a while. IM really looking forward to this season now.

Steve_Upper_West McShane had a poor game tonight but Quinn was full of running, best game from him so far. Tish did fantastic too hardly put a foot wrong, great break-up play and incisive passing - very pleased to see him sign a new deal. Took some convincing to buy a season ticket this time around but not regretting it now - roll on Tuesday !

I am amazed anyone has anything negative about McShane but each to his own. He didn't miss a single high ball all game and was very comfortable with the ball on the ground.

As to the rest. It was a delight to come out debating who the MoM was rather than who'd been the least shitty. For me it was a close run thing between Blackman and Norwood. The latter is clearly the go to man in midfield when you are caught in possession, he is always available and wants the ball, he probably put in more (effective) tackles than any other player on the pitch and his passing was sublime. As for that goal of the season, we have been waiting for one of those for a while (after seeing some of his Huddersfield efforts) and it was worth a wait!

Hope that's a fishing expedition and not genuine blinkered view

The first goal was the perfect antidote to the rubbish we've had to endure recently. A perfect cross when we've lacked any decent crosses followed by a striker getting on the end of it when we've been used to Pog not even in the box.

I wonder if our three departing stars of yesteryear, that we wouldn't be able to survive without, were watching from their benches last night ?? with their Premiership, Champions league dreams etc.....grass greener on the other side and all that ?? maybe not.........................................

Not sure, I'm currently on hold to Sky complaint my box is broken, it's claiming we scored five, Blackman was superb and we played really good football.

Wow,

Think that may be the performance that finally makes me a convert to Clarke. Haven't seen us so incisive for quite some years.

Goalie and Defence all did ok against a strong attacking unit set up to have a go at us.

Tish and Norwood were very decent indeed whilst Quinn did ok

Front 3 were all great.

Hard to pick a MOM between Sa who led the line perfectly and Blackman who was just unplayable at times it seemed.

Encouraging signs from all the new signings too.

Can't remember a time when our bench has looked so strong.

I thought McShane was a little shaky at times. The Ipswich goal and the Sears chance where he dived in and Sears stuck it over the bar when he should have scored. He didn't play badly but not up there with previous dominant performances by all accounts.

Reading were excellent though so let's not get bogged down in that. Sa led the line well, Vydra slotted in nicely, Blackman was outstanding, the rest of the midfield very fluid. Very promising signs that we might be up there this season.

Couldn't tell much about Piazon or John given their limited pitch time but the rough and tumble of the Champ means we're going to need all these players at some point or other.
