We really can't tell whether Feds leaving has been positive or not.
Do we know whether he was 'part of the problem' which Clark identified ?
It has been said that the image that we fans had of some of the departed players was not the way they were as part of the squad. That doesn't mean they were problems, just that we thought they were one thing when in fact they were not.
So while we may miss some of Feds keeping ability, we don't know whether or not he is missed as part of the group.

4EVARFC I think we're getting a bit carried away.

Lucky early goals have changed games in our favour. Games we would otherwise lose.

The fact of the matter is we lose all our games when were not lucky.

Boro had so much possession they made us look average, which we are.

The only good players are loan players who'll be gone in a few weeks and we'd never keep them if we did go up.

The Thais have done nothing except bring in the above loanees who aren't really ours.

Clarke is a bit clueless given he relies on loanees and early goal luck.

Nothing to see here, move on. I suspect we'll fight off relegation but wouldn't bank on it.

The only plus point is our excellent goalkeeping ability, but I suspect they will also fade into mediocrity as they tire out in this long season.

Oh.. I forgot to mention the official Royals music video. That's the only other plus point to the season, as at long last I can hold my head up high as a Reading fan with such a powerful, moving and inspiring video. Come the end of the season we may be left with an empty squad when all the loanees go back, playing League 1 footy but at least we'll have the song.

Other than that you're all just RTG wearers.

I have to agree, we are not always going to get an early goal
That is what changed the game and nothing else
Boro build attacks and wear teams down through the quality they have, that cannot be denied
Could anyone of you see 2-0 if we didnt get the the early goal?? no chance
Lets keep our feet on the ground lads

But we DID get the early goal so there is no argument, not covering yourself in glory there newbie,

+1

This is either a wind up or complete and utter drivel :|

So, after 14 seconds? we "changed" the game from what? What happened in the first 13 seconds? :P

Scoring the early goal gave us a significant advantage but why would we have had no chance without it when Boro managed one? shot on target even when they had no choice but to come out given our early strike?

A draw would have been more likely but that would still not have been a bad result.

Whatever happened to the Brighton fan who was supposed to be 'infiltrating' us? Either he's doing a good job or he bottled it.

Not so much as delusions of grandeur Mr MiddleB. You lost and i know its hard for YOU to take but for now, why don't you just focus on your next game. Although I understand that Middlesbrough have a really crap fans forum with feck all interest on it, why not change your puppet username here and join in as our MiddleB fan from time to time.

Ian Royal Just seen the highlights. Not sure how that was a penalty. Quite enjoyed the fact that 90% of the 10 minutes was us attacking or breaking on boro despite that it felt at the match that they had 90% of the possession, still, you do have to actually do somethign with it..

Haven't said anything about him yet, but I thought the ref was astoundingly bad. Missed a blatant push on Sa early on, plus another few fouls, but gave boro absolutely everything in the first 15 minutes. Got a bit better as the game went on, though how Obita's mildest of tugs was a freekick I don't know (although Jordan had no need to do it in the first place).

Best thing about it is seeing just how utterly stunned Downing and the boro defenders look in the aftermath of Williams burying his header.

See Refwatch for similar castigation of said ref

lol at the possession stats being brought up
this is why possession stats are daft.
it means nothing.
when they had the ball we let them faff about with it in their own half, and when they came into our half we took it off them and broke quickly, causing them problems.

Precisely. Maybe a certain Mr N Adkin should look at these stats and understand why we are so much happier now. I'd always settle for less possession and more goals (especially if we are also stopping the opposition from using their possession advantage).

Back up north after an excellent weekend down in the motherland, topped off with a great display from the guys on Saturday'

Al Habsi - 7 Pleasantly surprised with his performance, great save from Downing free kick in the first half and took control of crosses
into the box
Gunter - 7 Much underrated on here, put Downing in his pocket in the first half, calm and in control throughout.

McShane - 8 What an arrival he is turning out to be, perfect captain leads by example, so much experience.

Hector - 8 Looks every bit as good as the £4m chelsea payed for him, with McShane alongside him they are a formidable pair at the
back.

Obita - 7 Back to his very best.

Norwood - 8 Need to keep this guy fit, ran the game, good defensive tackles great range of passing

Williams - 8 Just a bundle of energy, box to box type player we have been missing, will score a few for us this year.

Piazon - 7 Looked much beter in the second half, as many said on here maybe not the best for a physical game, but will come into his
own in the more technical games when you need players who can spot a pass.

HRK - 7 Looked much better than in recent times and gave one of hisWales type performances.

Blackman - 8 Different role for him in this game but just went to show how Clark has got into his head, now looks a top player, got the
lot, speed, trickery and the bility to use both feet.

Sa -8 Love this guy, holds the ball up so well takes the pressure of others around him, he is going to be such a fans favourite here.

Subs:-

John - 7 Good feet can go past a player, confident will be a pretty good asset as the season progresses

Tsbola - 7 even though he wasn't on for many minutes this guy oozes ability, very Vierra like, so not scared of a physical battle,
together with a very good touch when needed.

All in all we made the "best" ?? side in the division look pretty second rate, could and should have one by more but huge promise from this squad, with the bonus of the international break letting Clark work with those not away on International duty.

Really enjoyed Saturday afternoon. Was a bit worried about how we would cope with Middlesbrough for the first 15 seconds. After that I thought we were comfortable throughout the remaining 89 minutes and 45 seconds plus injury time.

Delighted for Al Habsi - who I thought commanded his area well throughout. Almost everyone played superbly and hard to pick anyone out. However, thought Norwood had a great first 45 - but for me I thought Williams was stand out as he kept going throughout the 90 - amazing energy and so would give him 9 and everyone else 8 - except Piazon with a 5 (who was the only disappointment).

I have not seen it referred to yet but I feel I must mention Blackman's amazing bit of skill in the first half which was a semi-Cruyff type turn which left the full back on his backside and he was clear. It set up the chance from Sa which was headed off the line.

Penalty was right in front of us and is best summed up as "soft". Minor contact but Blackman made the most of it.

Put a slightly generous slant on the scoreline but whatever, Reading deserved the three points against what is clearly a strong side.
