CountryRoyal I don't know Steve Clarke, I -- I never met Steve Clarke or had any contact with him, but -- I'm sorry, I can't go on.}

That's ok Country, your tears over social media speculation says more than real quotes and evidence from the people involved ever could.

I don't know what you're getting at?
At no stage have I criticised him as a person. I felt that as a manager we were getting a good deal out of him going and us not having to pay him for it.

You might as well quote 75% of those on here apparently, and the WBA fans who all don't particularly rate him.

Sandmong.

Judging by the reaction on social media the last 24 hours. Many fans have been slagging off Clarke without full knowledge of the situation with Fulham. No doubt those same fans will be singing "Steve Clarkes barmy army" in a couple of weeks should the team return to form. It's a fickle old game ain't it?.

Pepe the Horseman According to Alan Nixon from The Sun, it fell through because Clarke wanted to take all the staff with him.

Makes sense. SC wanted his staff to follow, we asked for shitloads of compo for all the staff, Fulham said "nah" and SC said "fcuk you then"

There is still time for Clarke.

So he's staying because he wasn't allowed to completely balls things up for us by taking all his staff as well? That was the thing that made him decide to stay? Put it like that, yeah, great bloke, chuffed, really showing his commitment...

All he has to do is much better than he has been doing and in a few months time, next sacking at a club he thinks are more fitting for a football genius like him and he'll be off.

Quinn, McShane - players who came here after being persuaded by him, now find he'll be off like a dirty shirt when the right options comes along. Like I said, he's got some bridges to build.

I have no problem with him looking at clearly bigger opportunities. That's a fact of life. But talking to Fulham, who are below us and certainly not significantly better prospects than us after 11 months in the job and been given massive leeway to rebuild the squad in the summer. It basically shows he's not committed to us, which makes his position with the fans poor, undermines his position with the players.

And I don't care if 11 months is average in football. It's not average here. If you take our job you know that if you don't totally screw up and put us at risk of relegation then you'll get a couple or three of years to build a team and achieve something.

Frankly, he's done bog all here except for 7 games a month or so ago.

Seriously peeved he's messing us about and he needs to pull his finger out and start getting the results even more now. More mediocrity and he should be out on his ear in time for Xmas after this. Or sacked the day after Fulham officially appoint someone.

Agreed. It would appear Clarke is merely treading water at RFC, waiting for a better offer to come along. Just the fact he had talks with Fulham speaks volumes. Can't quite see how this is going to help the team out of its current poor run and can't see how there is any way back for Clarke to get the fans back on side after this. I think we need to look around for someone who will be a bit more committed to the job in hand now.
