Never one to really contribute to BFTG's or Hob nob in general but feel the need to add my views.
Before I start, I am one of those who has advocated that for the club to progress we need to move on from the "Reading way" however people perceive that way to be.
In my view that meant keeping things low key, within our financial means and try and look for those bargains that in the past we were able to unearth. 2005//2006 was a magical period that due to the ever increasing financial pressures to reach the promised land will probably never be repeated.
This brings me up to date and the takeover by the Thai's and the appointment of Steve Clarke. Here we go, I thought, investment and a manager to take us to the next level.
Well Thursday's and Friday's antics by the dour Scot has really pegged me back and I feel he alone is to blame for yesterdays performance. Luckily it was hapless Bolton we were up against because we could have been torn apart by many other teams in the league. The crowd were tense and this obviously affected the players.
Thank god for Al Habsi in the first 20 mins or I would of have had to return to the warmth of the Hotel for a new prescription for my Beer goggles. Only other players who came out of the game with any credit were Williams, Blackman and GMac. Norwood gave away too many fouls, not like him, and obviously the penalty. Gunter did link up well with GMac as the 2 have done for years, maybe Clarke needs reminding of that? As for Piazon, so lightweight and gives the ball away far too often, did track back in a half hearted manner a couple of times. Lucky goal for him but quite a tasty missus when he met up with his entourage in the Hotel after the game. Sa seemed out of sorts and agree with others that he needs to stay on his feet more. Nothing to add about substitutions that hasn't already been said either!
Well that's my rare contribution and I will now retreat to a safe distance in preparation for any flack coming my way!
