Y26

by dragpeace » 23 Nov 2015 11:19

Being in the States, I haven't been to a match in a few years. I'll be coming over this Christmas and going on Boxing Day. I know nothing is like it used to be (or maybe ever was), but is Y26 still the section with the most standing and singing?

Thanks!

Graham

Morgantown, West Virginia. Been here far too long. Spent many a day in Elm Park, though. :)

This board would be a rather drab place if we all just stuck to po faced replies about Reading FC wouldn't it?

Oh.

Don't know it myself Graham but have heard there are a few Royals fans out that way (WV generally, not Morgantown specifically)

I took the plunge and ordered tickets in Y26 for Brentford and Bristol City. Hopefully, there will be some atmosphere. I was surprised how few tickets were left stadium-wide, frankly (I looked around the seat map). Looks like attendance will be decent for both games. Now the wait for Wolves away tickets. :)

Not sure why no one answered but yes y26/y25 is generally the singing/standing area although both are a relative rarity. The further back the better though and the closer to the away fans the higher the propensity for v flicking teenagers.

I used to sit up there years ago.

Was there for the Wigan Play Off game and haven't been in an atmosphere like it since.

Wouldn't catch me up there now though.

The polite thing to do would be to answer his question before asking anymore.

The answer is implicit in the question.

Should I have made it explicit?

CountryRoyal This is HNA?

indeed CountryRoyal, indeed.

Thanks for the confirmation. I wasn't sure, as you used to not be able to order Y26 tickets online, but now you can. I'll have my own teenagers with me, but they'll be better behaved (and they've been to enough games to know the drill). Couldn't get too far up or away, but it'll be fine. Just being in the stadium again will be a treat. Not sure what my American wife will think, though. ;)

There's one in Pittsburgh I know (the Pittsburgh Riverhounds are our local club), but that's about it. "Soccer" has become incredibly popular here, but the US fans pretty much all support the big clubs. You wouldn't believe how many Barca, ManU, Arsenal, etc., jerseys you see here now. There are even articles on EPL matches in our local newspaper, and a radio station dedicated just to football!

I appreciate that. I've been on the board for years, but generally just read. We don't get to see many Championship matches on TV, here in the States, so it's tough to comment on the team. I listen to most of them on the Player. We get all of the Premier League matches live - the seasons we were up were a treat!

You have been in the US too long.

Been abroad for over 14 years, myself, and coming back permanently in January. Going to be Y22 or Y23 for me. In any case, there's no place like home, is there?
