Armadillo Roadkill Emerse Fae was, without question, a bigger failure than Vydra.

None of the others are. Many of them may have been worse players, but given the astronomical amount of money we've paid for Vydra I'd say he was by some margin the second worst signing in the past 15 years.

As I said, more than just about £s in my view.

Although in Pog's case, we had to put up with him earning a fortune for three whole years. He may have scored a few goals, but the sheer longevity of his poor value for money puts him above Vydra for me, even on a value for money basis.

I'll admit some were just shit players I wanted to chuck in. Actually can't believe I forgot to continue my hate campaign by not including that useless streak of piss Paul Brooker.

Big Foot Actual lol @ anyone who thinks Vydra is our "biggest ever flop"

Joint record signing.
Former player of the division ending up costing over £1M per league goal (excluding wages).

Nobody else gets anywhere near that.

Emerse Fae, Pavel Progrebnyak, Greg Halford, Sean Evers, Paul Brayson, Peter Van der Kwaak, Elroy Kromheer, Scott Murray, Mark Reilly, Bongali Khumalo, Marcus Williams, Brett Williams, Sam Sodje and Cedric Baseya would all like to discuss this matter with you.

Success of a signing is about more than £s of transfer fee per league goal.

Standard Ian Royal verbal diarrhea there. Go on, see if you can name one hundred former players, that will prove your point.

Well the anti-Vydra crowd will be pleased to hear that he's on the bench tonight

Hopefully that means Dellor can go without a hysterical toddler tantrum and stick to just commenting on the game badly.

Vydra misses a load of chances and he's shit. Kermorgant misses a load of chances and apparently he's played well because he could have had a hat trick.

Not sure you can credit someone for the ball accidentally hitting them on the arse.

Might want to watch the goal before saying it was an accident. 100% he meant to help it into the net.

Still managed to be in a good position. As all top class strikers do.

But Dellor would have crucified him had the ball accidentally hit him on the arse at our end and resulted in an own goal - 'What the hell was he doing there in the first place? That's completely disrespectful to every Reading fan!'

Said at the game that someone would probably proclaim him as some sort of top class goalscorer.

This highlighting of league games is an unfair slant on things. If we had a striker who ONLY scored in the FA Cup but got us to Wembley and we won the thing with his 88th minute goal, would we be criticising him?

The fact is the player has now got 9 goals and 3 assists, in 2232 minutes never mind his often great tackling back (and at least one goal he made from such)

Even "off-form" he is averaging a goal or assist every 186 minutes

Vydra, v Bolton got a man sent off. We won.

Vydra v Huddersfield in the cup, got a man sent off, We were losing 0-2 and we won 5-2 and ended up getting to the quarter finals of the FA Cup

Previously Vydra had scored a crucial away goal at Huddersfield 2-2

Vydra came on as a sub versus WBA and played brilliantly right at the death, going to the corner on a break but then cutting back and crossing to John who gave the ball to Piazon for the killer 3rd goal

Vydra scored two more v Walsall, a big part in a 4-0 victory.

Vydra's assist put us 2-1 ahead v Ipswich and we went on to win 5-1. It was also his challenge that caused a defender to fail to clear, feeding Blackman who scored

V was out three games injured

Vydra then got the assist for the opening goal away to Fulham sliding a pass through for Piazon

At Forest Vydra put RFC 0-1 up but the defence faltered and we lost. In the same game V won two Forest yellows for fouls stopping him.

At home to Brentford, 0-1 down Vydra got the assist for our equaliser, a nice 1-2 with McCleary for McCleary's goal.

I forget which game (Bristol?) where Vydra came thundering back, won a tackle, passed, and Blackman was away for our only goal

These are decent, very decent contributions in a side that has barely performed this season. How many RFC players are covering themselves with glory, goals and assists galore? Sa didn't, Kermie hasn't yet. Cox? No. HRK hasn't. McCleary hasn't, Norwood? Nope. Blackman did, Ola John, yes

And Vydra is still 23. There is every chance, in the right set-up he will get 20+ goals again at this level

Last night when Vydra came on, there was a noticeable difference to our play. As soon as a defender had the ball Vydra was off running, actually ANTICIPATING the long ball and the flick on. In one case he was clean through (I thought on-side) but given off-side.

And he got another goal. That’s 9 goals and 3 assists (and he made one other goal) and he’s had two players sent off where we were not winning but hen won.

Snowball, please email this into Tim Dellor at BBC Radio Berks. He has been challenging people to come up with positive stats. Make sure you copy Ady Williams as Dellor will probably try to pretend he hasn't seen this. Ady, however, will take great pleasure in highlighting this to him.

The question has to be whether we play Vydra or not, either way it won't cost us or save us any money that we have not already paid out or are committed to paying,

unless of course, Clarke negotiated terms on a -if he doesn't play, wages we pay- deal
as was the case with chalobah last year,

was a bit pre match where dellor was trying to make out like he'd been completely balanced and rational in his bolton interview/reaction, then Adie and him were laughing because Brian had said he wasn't going to single a player out, but then dropped Vydra- which was supposedly a vindication of what theyd said. when in fact Brian said absolutely nothing about not singling out a player in private....just that he wasn't about to start slagging him off in public in a radio interview.
which is of course utterly correct

Vydra was very decent last night. Great movement, decent control and even when he lost it, worked very hard to win it back, not giving defenders a moment's rest.
