No Fixed Abode I've heard that the best players have been the ones Stam has brought in and the worst ones are the ones left over from the Clarke/McDermott reign.

Well, by all accounts George Evans had been decent until the two away games... but it does look like Kermorgant has been a bit of a shocker. Most of Clarke's signings have gone back to their clubs!

Stam's doing alright to be fair.

We knew the better sides would punish us.

He has got us moving in the right direction, but it will take numerous transfer windows and plenty of time invested on the training ground before we become a good side. We have to be patient and trust him to do the job. Like we should have done with Brian McDermott.

kermorgant has always been shit.
meite isn't a striker
mendes isn't a striker
Rakels isn't a striker
samuels is young and injured.

imo we need two decent strikers, and we should have been concentrating on this and maybe making some actual money available, perhaps through saving some by not constantly trying to buy a load of wingers and midfielders.

I have not been in favour of any of the sackings of our managers in the post-Coppell era, though I felt relieved when both Rodgers and Adkins went. You have to give a manager time, but that is doubly the case with a novice manager like Stam. He will have to learn on the job, and so, if he is to prove any good, it is likely only after some mistakes and false starts.

He will have lots of great ideas in his head, and, like all of us in any job, will find that reality screws a lot of them up, leading gradually to the adopting of more pragmatism. Also, it will take time for him to discover which players he can trust, which is what happened with Coppell. If you get the right players, they need less management, and the team ethos takes over and produces success.

One thing does bother me--I can't stand listening to Stam's interviews. I'd listen to the end with McDermott and Clarke, though Adkins was a horrible blatherer. I thought Stam's interview after Newcastle was embarrassing, because he was saying we were as good as Newcastle and that the ref lost us the game. I don't care what good signs there were, that is a deluded response to a 4-1 loss. I thought he looked rattled and fell prey to gabbling. If he said this to keep up team spirit, it was undermined by his body language.

It was hard to tell from the footage I saw on SSN. It just looked like two Reading players and a Newcastle player decided to fall over in the box.

I don't think anyone on the club's board would have the bottle to tell Stam he is sacked. I mean would you tell him he was sacked?!

Libertine Yeah, just what we need. A 5th manager in less than 2 seasons. That'll inspire other managers..........to stay with their current team, or unemployed, instead.

^^^this man has adled his brains on drugs

take no notice of him

Love you really Libs

:D

The last time someone tried to convince me to stop doing drugs all that happened is I got the munchies. :P

But I can't be the drug addled one around here. No way can I, or would I dare try to, usurp brendymelonneko from his throne...

Neko is melonhead? Must have missed that in my months missing..

Are people that clueless that they want Stam sacked and expect us to win every game?? Give him some time, he is working with next to no money and we have played 3 games!! Personally watching the game yesterday (from the stream on Periscope) it looked promising. The result last night does not tell the story, looking to forward to saturday (100% record at home, you should remember).

This. It is impossible to tell what the referee has seen from Gunter, and with a lack of conclusive evidence to the contrary we have no choice really but to assume the referee was correct in giving the penalty, soft or not.

Mendes is a striker. Apparently that is his and the club's preferred position for him. Trouble is we only play with one recognised striker while the rest of the squad largely appears to be defenders who can't defend when under any form of pressure or wingers/wide players
Agree with the other observations.

I don't think anyone wants Stam sacked.

This thread pops up at the beginning of every managers rein at Reading Football Club following their first defeat. It is just a joke. It's part of the culture of the board.

As much as I'd love to be that young again, I'm fairly sure 50% of 4 is 2.
