Tanner back at Plymouth...

The 21-year-old Reading midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Home Park, has agreed another temporary move to the Pilgrims.

As last season, Craig’s initial loan from the Royals will run until January.

Craig, who played in 50 of Argyle’s games last season, was on his way to Newcastle with Reading on Wednesday for the Royals' EFL Cup tie when he answered Pilgrims’ manager Derek Adams call and immediately diverted from the north east to the south west.

He arrived in Plymouth in plenty of time to reclaim his No. 27 kit for Thursday’s training session and prepare for Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two match against Mansfield Town at Home Park.

In a further echo of last season, Craig had already lined up against the Pilgrims before starting his latest loan. Last season, he played for Reading Under-21s in a pre-season friendly at Home Park; this season, he was part of the Royals’ squad which faced Argyle in the EFL Cup first round.

Two outstanding goals in cup competitions were highlights of an impressive 2015-16 campaign with the Pilgrims, in which he scored six times.

Really disappointed with that. Didn't pull up any trees North of the border but it was in a very poor side. At 20 I would have been looking to get him a lower league one or top end league two side.

I don't think there's much point in that loan, but the posts so far are huge over-reactions even for HNA. Liam Kelly was playing in the Conference South last season. Michael Hector was moving between the Conference and League 2 at the same age. Aaron Tshibola had to go to a team in the League 2 relegation places. It's not the end of his career by any stretch of the imagination.

Having said that, I've only seen him play a couple of times since Dundee but he didn't play with the same confidence and ambition he had before. Maybe the aim is to give him a loan to a level where he can get some confidence back?

He has an opportunity to play competitive football at a decent level. It's up to him to accept the challenge and succeed at it. I would be worried if I did not hear BW fans rating him as consistently one of their best players though.

"After a highly successful loan spell with Cheltenham Town last season, Rob Dickie has today completed a loan move to return to Whaddon Road until 2nd January 2017.

The Robins were a National League club during his time there in 2015/16 – but a fantastic campaign by the Gloucestershire club saw them promoted back to League 2 at the first time of asking, 12 points clear at the summit of the table, meaning a chance for some regular action in the EFL for the 20-year-old.

Dickie initially joined Cheltenham at the beginning of the last campaign, but that spell came to an end as he picked up an injury against Chelmsford after hitting an unlikely hat-trick from defence in their FA Trophy win. But after making a full recovery, he spent the closing five weeks of the season at Whaddon Road to see them over the line – including five straight wins in the run-in.

A week after completing the season with Cheltenham, Dickie debuted for our first team on the final day of last season as we travelled to Blackburn Rovers. He was also involved in four fixtures during pre-season, as well as travelling out to Arnhem with the first-team squad.

He now rejoins Gary Johnson’s side in League 2, as they still seek their first league win since earning promotion. Consecutive 1-1 draws against Leyton Orient, Mansfield and Carlisle were followed by defeat to Doncaster – their next opportunity to take three points comes at home against Crewe Alexandra this weekend.

Dickie will be eligible to play in that game, and could meet fellow Royals loanee Craig Tanner the following weekend as the Robins visit Plymouth Argyle at Home Park. And then in November, he could line up on the opposite side of the teamsheet to Sean Long, who is on loan at Cambridge, before facing former Royal Jake Taylor and Exeter in December. His loan spell is due to end following the conclusion of the Robins’ League 2 clash at Colchester in the new year.

Goalkeeper links up with the Gills until the new year
Royals goalkeeper Jonathan Bond has today joined League 1 side Gillingham on a loan spell until the new year.

The stopper links up with the Kent club on a stint which will run until 7th January 2017 – and the paperwork was completed in time for him to be eligible to travel with his new teammates and play away at Shrewsbury tomorrow.

The Gills, who had Dominic Samuel on loan at Priestfield last season, made a bright start to the new campaign by taking seven points from their first three fixtures – but last weekend they shipped five goals in a heavy defeat at Scunthorpe. They went some way to making amends in midweek when Bradley Dack’s extra-time goal knocked Premier League side Watford out of the EFL Cup.

And now their squad is bolstered by the arrival of the 23-year-old stopper, who could debut at Greenhous Meadow tomorrow against the Shrews.

Bond arrived at Madejski Stadium from Watford during the summer of 2015 and made 14 Championship appearances during his maiden season. During the current campaign, he has twice occupied the bench for the first team as well as playing three times for our Under-23 squad, including a 2-0 win away Arsenal.

He could potentially play as many as 22 fixtures in League 1 for Gillingham before his loan spell ends after a home fixture against AFC Wimbledon in January.

Sam Smith to Bishops Stortford until 27 November 2016 (same link as above)
Meanwhile striker Sam Smith, who signed his first pro contract this summer after graduating from the Academy Under-18 squad, has linked up with Bishop’s Stortford on a three-month loan.

Smith could make his first appearance in the National League South tomorrow at Gosport Borough, and may be tasked with trying to beat Royals teammate Lewis Ward next month, when they face the goalkeeper’s loan club Margate. The striker’s loan is due to end on 27th November.

Really, really hope he turns out to be a revelation and stand out player in the third division/tier

Unless Bond has gone with the intention of him being Gills starting keeper for the duration of his loan it's a pointless move.
He has to be playing games, the level is unimportant so if he doesn't start each week we should end the loan and send him somewhere that he would be automatic first choice.

Bond made his debut today for Gillingham, away at Shrewsbury. BBC website credits him with making 2 excellent saves in the first half, to keep Gillingham in the game after they went 2-0 down. They came back to win 2-3.

Rob Dickie scored the opener at Cheltenham, as they beat CRewe 2-0.

Disappointingly Kuhl was sub not used for Boreham Wood yesterday after getting just 20 minutes off the bench on his debut.
