That brings tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. It's difficult to work out whether that's a better record than 106 points, given that a third tier side are not supposed to be that consistent. Late goals, a penalty save at Plymouth and just the most incredible ability to hang on when at times we didn't deserve it.

Presumably it could be as early as the first day of the season but suspect it usually stretched to about game 6 or 7

Now that we've had the merge I can partially answer this question - didn't want to add to the JCL thread...

The earliest possible date is obviously the date on which the last team plays their first game. This is never the first day of the season. And in any event the chance of every game starting as a draw is slim. Although now that everyone plays with 1 up front and calls it 4-3-3, the probability has definitely increased.

Before Record Watch, HNA?, or even the world wide web I kept an eye on when the record was safe. There have been at least a couple of seasons when no club won all of their first four games, but I think that every year someone won their first three. As far as dates go, I imagine the earliest was late August.

This year, no-one in League 2 managed to win their first 2 games, and I don't remember that happening for an entire division before (but couldn't absolutely swear to it). Worth noting that since 1985 Reading have never managed more than 2.


There were only just over 40 Reading fans standing at Home Park for game 2 of our run (officially there were none in the seats, but I expect a handful had gone in the stand). So there were very few people who could have attended all 13. Because of bad weather the stewards / police let us off the open terrace and into a section of the covered side.

Surely it would be the date on which which the last team plays their second game? It would be impossible for everyone to have lost or drawn their first game.
