genome At this stage
1. Reading P31 Pts 76
2. Sheff Utd P31 Pts 69
1. Newcastle P31 Pts 66
2. Brighton P31 Pts 65
So even Sheffield United were doing better at this point.

Tbf, Utd would have won the league almost any other year, wouldn't they?

They finished with 92 points that year, so a quick look through Wiki shows:
Year - Winner - Points (Runner up and points if more than 92)
06-07 Sunderland 88
07-08 WBA 81
08-09 Wolves 90
09-10 Newcastle 102
10-11 QPR 88
11-12 Reading 89
12-13 Cardiff 87
13-14 Leicester 102 (Burnley 93)
14-15 Bournemouth 90
15-16 Burnley 93
So of the 10 completed seasons since 05-06, only 4 teams have bettered Sheff Utd's 92 points in 05-06.

The Royal Forester If Barnsley beat Brighton on Saturday, we can prevent them from beating our record when we meet them. Depending on Newcastle's results we could do the same to them. Wouldn't that be a fabulous couple of games, and give our fans something to sing about. Something along the lines of "We still got the record", will really annoy both sets of fans.

To be brutally honest, no other set of fans could really give a shit.
... and the fact that we are 4th (happy guys, not 3rd) in the league after some otter dross for the last couple of years, should be more than enough for us to "sing about".
