No Fixed Abode Does anyone know if the club will do free t-shirts again should Reading make the final?

I know you you're taking the piss but I thought I was a great idea. The half of Wembley blue and white stripes looked great. I mean, I didn't wear mine, but enough people did that it looked good.

Pretty universally seen as a good thing to be honest. Made that end our own. much better than teams that give out flags or those horrible clappy things. Or even worse the clubs that decorate their grounds with those fake banners from obscure supporters clubs ....

124% agreed. One of the few "initiatives" that actually worked. Really good idea

wingnut The home leg is bound to be on the 17th May as that's the only date around then I can't make.
I've already made it certain that we'll be in the final as I'm going to the Isle of Man on the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend.

I have also guaranteed a play off win by deciding not to buy a season ticket

Thanks wingnut, that was very considerate of you.

We also ought to check the long-range weather forecast, as it's bound to be on the most unseasonally cold and rainy day.

+1 with Kes here. Hoping we do free shirts again at Wembley. Good thinking Kes.

Wow, ian. You had one for three whole years and flouncex as soon as we were shit.

Nothing stopping you going to the odd game though. You are the typical arm chair inyernet warrior follower.

In his defence at least he's standing by his word and continuing his self-imposed boycott of this season.

Yeah I know it was about McDg8. Would you go to any of the playoffs? Or gonna commit til the end?

Actually think it should be 5th v 6th then the winners play 4th with the winners then playing the team that finished 3rd to see who goes up.

All one off games at neutral venues.

Couple of problems with that
1. Not fair on the 3rd place team to have 2 weeks with no games before a huge winner takes all final against a team bang up to speed
2. Getting hold of multiple neutral venues at short notice might be tricky. Couldn't sensibly book them in advance Cause they would need to be sensibly placed geographically (you couldn't schedule a Newcastle v Blackburn game at st Mary's or a Birmingham v Norwich game at Villa for example).
3. This season places 3-6 could be very close, why should a team finishing 10 points behind 2nd but just a point ahead of 6th get such a huge advantage ?

Rugby League use that format but they all play next to the M62 so it's easy geographically.

I quite like the Scottish system - 2nd to 4th qualify for the play-offs:

3 v 4 over two legs
Winner plays 2nd over 2 legs

Winner then plays 2nd bottom from the division above over 2 legs.

Quite like the old RL play-offs, where the highest ranked team get to pick their opponent. So say they pick the team in 6th:

If they win, they go straight to the final. If they lose, 6th goes to the final but the team in 3rd get another home game against the winner of 4th v 5th to get to the final. Gives the best team a stonger chance of promotion.

End of regular season get out clause ain't it. There is not a cat in hells chance I'm missing us finally winning a PO Final at Wembley.

I never actually intended a full boycott in actual fact - i expected to still make half a dozen games initially, it's just kinda turned into that.

See now I've thought about this.
Cats as an animal / species of animal are very versatile and resilient. Of all the animals that could / should end up in the fires of Hell I'd actually give cats a strong chance of survival ! It being grand national wknd I'd also offer odds on it

As ever, the teams that finish 5th will host the team that finish 4th in the first leg, while the team that finish 3rd visit the 6th-placed club first on the other side of the draw. And then sides placed 3rd and 4th return home for the second legs, with the aggregate winners meeting in the final at Wembley.

Those two first-leg games are scheduled to take place on Saturday 13th May, 5.30pm (with the return leg on Tuesday 16th May, 7.45pm) and Sunday 14th May, 12pm (with the return leg on Wednesday 17th May, 7.45pm).
