Sutekh Do you think the fans invaded the pitch to celebrate promotion in 1926 or just politely applauded and not realise the club had been promoted until the local press mentioned it a week or two later?

Sutekh Loads. All the celebration ones since about 1979 and also the aftermath of the debacles v Notts Co in '89, Port Vale in '98 etc. Sure there's probably more as well.

The WIgan game was my only one that wasn't a mass invasion. Was right down in the corner by Y26, absolutely hammered, winner goes in and a handful of us were on the pitch, Phil Whitehead(?) told us to GTF off. another pitch invasion at full time though.

Nameless Famous one at EP that was a protest started by one person (female ) running on from the Tilehurst end and sitting on her own in the centre circle before everyone else piled on. Was it a Branfoot era one ?

showed little emotion, went to the working men's club after the match then home to beat their wives mercilessly

Yes there was, for which we got fined. Promotion merits a pitch invasion. Winning the league merits a pitch invasion. Cup win. That's it.

I'm not a pitch invasion snob. At some county cricket games you can just go for a stroll on the pitch after the match, or even during tea or whatever.
Just let people on the bloody turf if they want to go on.
