strap Just realised I also missed Terry the Taxi joining us on loan latter part of 83/84 - although he never made a 1st Xi app. ENFA doesn't mention his loan stint, but Rothmans 84/85 does on page 80 and 429, so many thanks to the OP for that snippet.
Which means Jordan Mutch was our 130th loanee.

strap Happy to be corrected, but this is my list as of today:
I am biased but I still think our first ever loanee turned out to be our best. Although respect to our 103rd.

Wazzock Interesting how we've never loaned a player whilst in the Premier League.

Also what about Colin Court who made one first team appearance v Swindon on loan from Andover Town on 29th Feb 1982? IIRC he was brought in at short notice following Steve Death walking out after a dispute with the club over his club house and the reserve keeper Ron Fearon being injured.

Forbury Lion So... shall we try and name a Loanee XI?
I remember reading a Reading FC book, can't remember which one - Maybe the Robin Friday book, It told the story of how Reading had a player (goalkeeper?) on loan from a club (Arsenal?) and it was an informal type of loan. Anyway they forgot he wasn't their player and tried to sell him

Come on Strap, you've only done half the job !
You are supposed to supply a witty and informative one liner about each of them...
By lunchtime ?

Apart from Peter Mate and Aleksandar Gogic but then it is correct to say Reading have never fielded a loan player in a game in the top division.

Apologies, I thought Colin Court was a non-contract player rather than a loanee. He made a few apps for the reserves prior to his single league game for us. See Royals Remembered by Alan Sedunary page 46 for details of how he helped RFC set a league record too.

From Despair To Where? So in the 13 years it took Leeds to rack up 100, we've had 37, of which 9 were signed by Steve Clarke in less than 12 months.
10539.4 Miles Away 96/97 Steve Mautone
Reasonable keeper from memory, on loan and then permanent. Pretty sure his song was about him being on loan

Maybe it was cos I was young but I thought he was one of the best keepers we ever had. Penalty save on debut?
