My Dad took me to Elm Park in 1965 for my first game a toddler , Reading v Brentford I think

Season ticket holder for 34 years and renewed this season , it's been a long bumpy journey !

That price seems expensive to me. I remember in the late 70's it was 22p to get into the Southbank.

You're a season before me, Ark.... 14th February, 1968 was my first game at EP. A 0-0 against Northampton but it was Valentine's day and my unrequited love was sealed.
I was born in Gosport and my grandparents and mother were STHs at Fratton Park (my grandpa was an honourary life president) and so the first games I can remember are at Pompey. We moved to the 'Ding in '67.
My old man was born literally a couple of stones throws from The Valley but he didn't try very hard - just 3 or 4 games before he pegged it - to get me to support the Addicks. I do owe him for igniting the passion for RFC, though.
Location? First couple of seasons in B block as a 5/6 year old and he used to lift me over the turnstile to avoid paying. Town End before it became 'visiting supporters only.' Transfer to the SB. Under the gantry. R&T.
Memorable games? Too many.
Plymouth at EP.
Pox at the Manor with Terry the Taxi for its awfulness.
Tranmere away in the play-offs.
Simod Cup final - and Coventry and Forest.
Holsgrove becoming Maradonna at Ayresome Park.
Scotty Taylor burying Brighton at Goldstone.
*That* game at Southampton with ALF.
Arsenal in the cup in '72 - what a header for an OG from Wooler.
Burnley at Turf Moor when Bobby Convey dazzled before they crippled him, and the snowball fight at Hebden Bridge.
Leroy's brace at the Council House.
Notlob and that cheating Scouser McAteer.
Any game against Aldersh*t - especially '79 at EP.
Newport away in '85.
But, of course, there is only one answer: the greatest footballer ever to wear the Hoops. Tranmere. EP. 1976.

Lifelong? Hell yes. Why else do I put myself through this misery every season? It's the hope that kills us. One club for life.

Do you still support? Well, I've lived in the Middle East for the past 23 years and I'm still fortunate enough to go to around 10-15 matches every season. Bonkers? Yup.

It's the comedy, drama, theatre and passion. And one can't beat a good away day which keeps one coming back.

Like quite a few on this thread, my support of our club stretches back 50+ years.

First game: Home to Luton, March 1970, soaking wet evening game. We started with ten players as Steve Death was late
due to "West Reading traffic". Lost 0-1...I recall Malcolm McDonald scored for Luton. Absolutely hooked big time ever since.

Held a season ticket from 1981 till current. Blue and white blood....no other team for me.

Went to every home league, cup and friendly game (bar one....annoying family wedding) between 1974 and 1988

Witnessed 8 promotions. 7 relegations. Absolutely adored the promotions in 1976, 1979, 1986 and 2006.

Hated all play-off finals. Fabulous memories of the 1988 Simod Cup final (and the semi was pretty special too).

Loved taking thousands to Aldershot in the 70s and 80s. Loved having 70% of the crowd at an away league match (Newport 1985).

I'll stop now before you all slip into a coma. Love the club. Love it. Enjoying this season...gagging to get back in the stadium.
50 odd years and my heart still bleeds RFC. Will never change. Am proud to be a one-club supporter. Almost 1.500 RFC games for me.
The passion and support is still there...and I dare say I will take it to my grave.

My goodness, there are some real oldies on this thread - and I am one of them! First game was in the 1948-49 season but I can't remember who we were playing or the result. I do remember the 1951-52 team: Marks: Moyse, Wicks: Lewis, Brice, Johnston; Simpson, Edelston, Blackman, Henley and Bainbridge. I also remember the 7-0 thrashing of Colchester in September 1957 when I think Douggie Webb scored a hat-trick and Chris Palethorpe got two. Unfortunately there have been many painful memories, too and it really has been a bumpy ride. Nevertheless, I have always been passionate about the Biscuitmen/Royals and have never thought about supporting anyone else.
