CountryRoyal
Hound as pointed out, it is vaguely interesting no mention of Pauno at all. Other than that its not interesting at all.

I'm not convinced. I think its implied in the whole "all stick together" bollocks.

I'm not convinced either. Hence the 'vaguely' caveat. But still slightly surprising it didn't say we have the squad and manager to get out of it etc. Its quite a conspicuous absence

I think its quite telling that "the manager" phrase was not used at all.

Hendo Thats the attitude.

"We want more communication from the club. Look at the Birmingham owners, they've come out with an open letter"

*Club communicates with an open letter*

"What a load of shit".

JFC.

It's empty bollocks.

We've already started fixing the problems. - Obviously not.

Basically says shut up and eat shit.

You want some positivity, change the manager.

Actions, not words. I could write an open letter on behalf of the club and post it here and it would have just as much meaning as that one.

Yeah. We don't want words, we want actions. Sack the manager and then release a statement, give the supporters what they want for once.

It's exactly the sort of thing I would have written if I wanted to undermine a planned protest. It's emotional blackmail. I would say that every fan heading for the protest on Saturday cares deeply about the club.

Seen the latest about these cash giveaways as well?

What a weird thing to do. Just sack the manager

Bizarre behaviour, like he's trying to buy our love. Just plain odd.

I don’t know if he means well and is just utterly clueless, has some rubbish PR advice or what.

I mean it’s a nice thing to do and fair play. But just so knee jerk, last minute and poorly thought through. Clearly trying to add some more to the gate. Sack the manager would do that for him

Maybe I'm reading too much into it. But feels a bit authoritarian play book.

Tell them what to do - everything will be fine and, quite literally, give them bread and circuses. With the hint that if you don't comply you're not welcome, and if you do you might get a present.

If anyone wins, who isn’t in a tricky financial spot in these trying times, may I suggest you squirrel the winnings away for the day you may need to invest in a supporter's bid to buy the club from oblivion.

Reminds me of a speech by a w*nker of a CEO that was given where I work.
Two weeks later half the company lost their jobs and it came to life how bad a state the business was in. We had an idea, but never believed behind the scenes it was that bad.
I really worry for the long-term future of Reading FC, and actions speak louder than words.....and I see no actions.

I am only really going on Saturday to protest outside the ground. Otherwise, I refuse to go to anymore games until Pauno is sacked. I won’t protest inside the ground and I’ll support the team as usual. If the owners really want to create a great atmosphere all they have to do is sack Pauno.

In fairness it’s a virtual sell out. Looks like only a few hundred tickets left so I don’t think it’s been done to add fans to the gate. Whatever we think about him he hasn’t been tight with the fans.

A long statement but not a single word about the issue that concerns the fans most, and that is of a manager that is clearly out of his depth.

Is this a "please don't invade the pitch"? Used to be done in the evening post back in the day - whatever happened to them.

I'm going to buck the trend here and say that I think this is great! Our fanbase has been dwindling for years, we really need to start making the club more a part of the town. That's the major problem of being a London commuter town.

I'm really pleased the club is laying on some entertainment though and making a day of it for the fans. I wish we could make it a more regular thing, bars and restaurants right near the ground, let people arrive earlier, stay later etc.

Completely agree - this makes the statement largely pointless.

If they had justified why they were backing the manager, then we may not have agreed but we would at least understood their rationale.

Avoiding the issue is a massive miscalculation.

2017 and the 500th Match Celebration at the Madejski.

"And Season Ticket Holders will also get reward for cheering us on against the Brewers next month! We will issue 50 Royals Rewards points to every single Season Ticket holders who comes to the game – and, of those in attendance on the day of the game, 500 will be randomly selected to receive an additional 500 bonus Royals Rewards points on their card!

The atmosphere at Madejski Stadium has been so special when it has been packed to the rafters for unforgettable occasions across the 496 games which have been played here in the last 19 and a half years – most recently who will forget how our fans helped Jaap Stam’s side reach Wembley in an intense but exhilarating play-off semi-final second leg win over Fulham back in May. And we want as many fans here as possible to help create more memories in our 500th fixture!"

What a damp squib that turned out to be. Four years later and still the same turgid style of pass it out from the back football. Under Stam's management Reading went onto to win one further fixture. Away at Burton Albion.........
