Gilkes to be interim manager

This had better be interim manager for a few days until we get the contracts on a real manager signed.

If it’s for the rest of the season, I’d rather than Pauno or Bullivant.

Not sure how you can say "better the devil you know" when the devil you know has just lost 14 games out of 19. :?

Totally agree - for all Gilkes's perceived failings, he has to be better than Clownovic!

Failing at Basingstoke and overseeing our worst ever under 23’s performances are not a ringing endorsement.

However, maybe he will be so ineffectual, that player power will be allowed to take over in a positive way.

I think the nuts and bolts of it are that quite literally anyone could walk into that dressing room and the players would perform better.

We just have to be grateful that he's gone and get behind Gilkes. Yes he's not ideal, yes he hasn't got experience as a manager but he cares about the club and will have the respect of the players, at least short term.

Clearly the owners hadn’t planned to sack Pauno as no one is in place to come in.

Obviously pleased if Paunovic has gone , but not in favour of Gilkes . I appreciate that we believe anyone could do better than Paunovic but being a manager at this level , and we do want someone who will get us to survive ,, is not an easy , anyone can do it situation , be realistic . We have the opportunity to get someone who is capable , don’t waste it .

Isn`t Ledge at the club in some coaching capacity? i would much prefer him to Gilkesy. won`t believe Pauno has gone though till it`s rolling along the bottom of the screen on SSN.

Ridiculous procrastination from the owners. It should have been after Kidderminster and Fulham. Now the rot has gone on for a month longer, we're deep in trouble and it will be a baptism of fire for the new manager with a string of back to back fixtures with very little time to work on the training ground.

I think they genuinely backed Pauno with no plan B, and now it's become untenable there is no plan.

As far as I know has no interest in management let alone managing Reading (I'm selling this one) might I suggest Glenn Murray.

Now is not the time to get a manager who is cutting their teeth. We need an experienced manager. End of.

Millsy Pauno, we are also "f**king suffering" in case you hadn't noticed.

Lmao the comment on that video

“ This team is good but its because of him we're suffering as a team if he would play the players where they normally play we would win”

I actually think we'll be quite an attractive proposition in the summer if we stay up. Not many managers come in to a club with a completely blank canvas. Like real life football manager.

Ideal world would be Warnock or someone of that ilk, till the end of the season. Then an exciting up-and-coming in the summer.

Misspelt! Bagels

Mmm, cinnamon bagels...

They used to have as much bite as a bagel. I put £50 on them at 80-1 to win the Super Bowl bowl but now tempted to cash out and save the money to buy my share in AFC Reading.

I hope you cashed out :?

I've always liked him. :?

No matter how bad it gets, I don't think any player should really be speaking to the press about how they want a manager out. (Not saying that was Ejaria). Even if we're all grateful it worked.

Really should be raised through the captain and to CEO / Owner that way.

That sort of thing just suggests a lack of professionalism and toxic attitude behind the scenes that should have been resolved much earlier.

I still think this may be what Liam Moore did as captain, grumbled about VP to Dai, but he was the one moved on as that was during Pauno's bulletproof stage.

I missed all this last night. I was convinced Pauno was here until the end of the season. I really hope it’s announced today as I want him out of the club.

Not bloody likely seeing as Pauno has reportedly said he wanted to play him but wasn’t allowed.
