Millsy Ashley's zero-hours contracts are just what we need tbh.

We'd not be in this situation if our sick list, including Liam Moore, had had a zero hours contract :D

WestYorksRoyal One of them literally just posted, without irony, that this will end with us forever languishing in the bottom 6 of the PL. Fcuk me, how will we cope?

I liked the bloke who claimed Newcastle had never been relegated before Ashley came along.

You realise that all records before 1992 have been expunged?

I'm which case, Newcastle have never won anything.

You're just flat-out dissing the Intertoto Cup?

Not at all. I'm sure it's as big as trophies for finishing 7th get and IIRC, it's shared with 3 other clubs

To be fair, they have won the EFL twice in that time, as have we.l but I do think our League 2 title tips the balance in our favour.

From Despair To Where?
Elm Park Kid
Snowflake Royal A couple of people step up a bit for a couple of months.

There's no one more important than Manager right now. All the sale stuff will be lawyers. Bowen can brief people, but that's delagateable or can be done at the same time.

It's two months before any transfers can happen and we have an embargo.

Anything Bowen is doing can wait.

We need points on the board.

I mean - it comes down to how much you really believe that our results are down to the specific weakness of Selles compared to all the other club-wide issues. If you honestly believe that Bowen would make a difference (there's almost no evidence to think that Hunt would), then maybe you go for it and try your best to cover up the gaps from him leaving his current post. But . . I really don't like that strategy - it feels like instead of paying half your mortgage you take the money and go and put it on Red at the casino.

I'd agree with this to an extent. I think the manager situation only really gets solved with a change of ownership.

Of course it does. No one is suggestign Bowen (or Hunt) as a long term solution.

They're vaguely competent alternatives to the guy who is losing every game and destroying the fragile morale and confidence at the club.

He should have gone a week ago.

What do we possibly gain from Selles being in charge for one more match?

I think it's fine if it's a case of "the ownership will be sorted in 6 weeks, we just need someone to see us through til then" but if it's a question of "interim until we can find an owner, timescale unspecified", then I don't see much changing regardless of who's in the dugout. Don't see this as a vote of confidence in Selles, btw, he needs to go but I don't see anything changing without new owners.

Much as there is optimism with Ashley potentially coming in, I don't take anything for granted until it's happened

I can't see any reason - apart from financial (which was the same issue we had with getting rid of Ince last season, and Pauno before him) of keeping Selles as Manager for another moment.

Whats the worst that can happen having Noel Hunt back as an interim Manager? We lose every game? So, no change then........

Exactly.

Seriously though he's the least concerning choice so far for me.

There’s a massive irony in the reaction from fans of other clubs to the news that Mike Ashley is interested in taking over RFC.

For years Reading and its fans have been derided as being ‘tinpot’ or ‘plastic’ with a soulless flat pack stadium.

But now we are being warned by all comers on social media that Ashley will strip the soul out of the club, removing its traditions.

You can’t have it both ways.

Depends on when it was won.

The first ten or so years of the revamped Intertoto had three winners.

When Newcastle won it (2006?), it was because of the eleven finalists, they went the furthest in the UEFA cup.

So they won it for beating Lillestrom then getting to the last 16 of the UEFA cup where they post to AZ.

You're not make Ng it sound any better.

Still, nice certificate.

The Sunderland Forums have been really kind to us and Ashley in their opinions.
They think Ashley still lives in Newcastle fans heads rent free, and does so forever. The utter bullshit being pushed by fans of Saudi FC is in full overdrive. Even some barcode twat has made a podcast on YouTube, just spewing poison that isn't even true.

"Cutting hours or cutting limbs?"

A reference to Ashley being a pcunt because he uses zero hour contracts whereas the current owners are salt of the earth top geezers.

Yeah I heard it as First Direct or Beheading.
The zero hours thing was ages ago and at least he stopped it and admitted he was wrong.
Bit different from being asked to dinner in an embassy and leaving in plastic bags.
