In the Guardian's reporting of the possible impact of the Nazi scum rioting, the Birmingham vs Reading game was the only one specifically name checked - apparently there's a mosque right by St. Andrews, so it's seen as a very high profile flash point.

I have a very nasty feeling this one be postponed.

The first day is one where you get strange results but I think Birmingham will edge us. Big crowd, new squad which is very good for league one, a manager in Chris Davies.

Still I would rather get them or Huddersfield first. Just a shame it's not at home as I'd fancy us.

Looking forward to the occasion, let's hope the game isn't off!

Just waiting now for the standard "I fear a heavy defeat" remark from you know who....

This is where my thinking is at. An outside chance as it is their first game, new coach, lots of signings etc,. But ultimately I think they will have a bit too much for us, especially with the fitness issues at full back.

It will be interesting to see how they fare under Davies. He was interviewed for our gig last year.

Presumably he'll be sacked in late October for being 5th and then they'll hire Ronald McDonald to take them to 18th.

Update from the club:

"We are aware of concerns around the disorder that has been seen across the country, and the effect it may have on Saturday's fixture. The safety and security of supporters is of the utmost importance to both clubs.

Birmingham City are in regular contact with West Midlands Police and are confident that the match will pass without incident, with a significant police presence deployed to ensure that this is the case."

Selles has had his press conference: https://x.com/AndyPreston96/status/1821554537942934000

- Confident the club is ‘close’ to entering a new chapter and understands takeover is close, but not finalised
- Dorsett and Abrefa both in contention for B’ham, late decisions to be made
- John Ryan out long term with ACL

Dorsett and Abrefa being in contention is good, although I'd be surprised if either of them start (especially if they're going to be late calls). Could both be options from the bench though.

I have a good feeling about this.

1-2 to the Royals.
