windermereROYAL I`m absolutely gutted for Ruben, he`s put his heart and soul into this club and been betrayed at every level. he`ll never be our best manager ever but fuck me he`s a legend in many peoples eyes, anybody else would have walked away months ago.
He`ll be gone very soon and some club will snap him that appreciates what he has to offer.

Reckon he’s our third best manager after coppell and McDermott. Maybe 2nd given the crap he’s had to put up with

Steady on, Pardew would like a word. And McGhee. And several from before my time.

He's had two thirds of a very good season under terrible circumstances.

Exactly. Nowhere near. Unless he means "after Coppell and McDermott" in a temporal sense, in which case it's possible.. but then I'd say he's arguably the best manager in that sense?

Sutekh League win ratio is not yet as bad as that of the worst manager in Reading's history to date, Paul Clement. The RS league win ratio is currently 23.07% while Clement's tenure finished as 21.30%. And if you compare RS to PC's first 12 league games in charge it's a massive improvement as Clement only had a league win ratio of 8.3% after 12 league games.

Therefore Clement was quite staggeringly ****** awful and he didn't have the embargoes and point deductions on top of it all.

Selles win ratio is now a much more normal looking 38.71% so nowhere near Clement and quite an achievement in the last year or so with everything the owner is trying to do around him to get into non league football. Easily the best Reading manager of the last decade.

Post Brian I'd agree.

In my time back to 1971 McGhee gets the vote for third place. He took the club from the lower reaches of tier 3 to the top of tier 2 with no money of sorts to spend (unlike Pardew) and with a very stylish playing style.

He's certainly turned into the best we've had since Brian. But then a block of cheese would have a chance of that seeing as they'd be competing with:

Adkins, Clarke, Stam, Clement, Gomes, Bowen, Paunovic and Ince.

I'd say it's quite a consistent strategy.

Selles must be mentally drained. Why stay in a job where it's little more than treading water. I'm sure another club would happily pay compensation.

Agree. It's a matter of time and no one can blame the guy. He will leave and be loved afterwards.

It's such a shame as he looked happy, settled, a bond with the players and fans, looking forward to a new stable start and an actual future to build on.

He'd lost players without consultation. He'd been swindled and lied to, not paid, deceived, etc

All would have been a memory had this deal gone through.

Now though it's going to be the same and no light at end of the tunnel. Not a chance he'll stay and I wish him nothing but success.

I suspect he'll be thinking it over. If he leaves, the team will fall apart and probably some careers will finish before they've started. We as fans have supported him and we have nowhere to go. It will negatively impact so many people if he leaves. He needs to weigh that up against the toll it's taking on him.

Plus, doesn’t the club need to accept his resignation? Didn't Pauno get forced to limp on after asking to resign?

If Selles goes then no one can possibly blame him. If he stays he won’t be staying for the club, but for sake of the young squad who will undoubtedly struggle if he leaves.

Whatever he decides, I am sure he will be offered plenty of jobs in the future. If he stays it will be seen as a selfless act captaining the sinking ship fighting against the odds until it goes to the bottom.

Hope he stays of course.

Doesn`t the captain always go down with the ship?

Selles proving again he really is nothing special or at least we really can't tell because of other factors. Most likely file under forgettable crap like Pauno, Ince, Stam, Clement etc etc...

That's incredibly harsh. Given how he's brought this team together and the fan base during probably the worst period in this clubs history (at least in my lifetime).

It's not just harsh it's downright insulting actually.

It’s Millsy

He is on minus figures when it comes to humour and sensibility.

Probably just (yet) another village idiot sleeper account here.

He makes mistakes as do all managers. But he’s massively in credit at this point in time overall for his time here

I’d certainly say thanks and wish him well if he chooses to go elsewhere. Completely different league as a man and manager to what we’ve had last ten years or so
