Royals and Racers Spurs 1 Reading 0 45+ 2
1-1 54 mins Okine-Peters
Spurs 1 Reading 2 82 mins Okine-Peters PEN
1-3 86 mins Okine-Peters Hat-trick !!
1-4 90+ 3 Okine-Peters PEN- Spurs down to 10
F-T 1-4
When was the last time anyone scored 4 goals in a match for the Royals ?

Anyone know how old Okine-Peter's is? thats 4 goals in 3 games for the U21s which is pretty impressive. Given our current status he cannot be to far from a run out with the first team in mickey mouse cups!

I think Kerry Dixon scored four away from home --- but we lost! Was it Doncaster or somewhere up north?

Meite did it much more recently than that, away from home too

Impressive score and seems like the U21s are getting a bit of form back (maybe due to players returning from injury).

Noticed neither Rushesha nor Holzman were in the squad, so maybe in the first team against Bristol Rovers (unless they're injured).

He most recently played in the FA Youth Cup in the 2022-23 season - players must be between the ages of fifteen and eighteen on 31st August at the start of the season. At most he'll be twenty.

Oddly a few Ghanaian football sites (link1; link2; link3) believe he completed his scholarship at the end of the 2022-23 season, which I believe usually conclude at age eighteen (one site explicitly says he was eighteen). That aligns with the FA Youth Cup evidence that he'll be turning twenty some point this season, unless he's already done so.

Fantastic win against Spurs and the U 21’s have little time to rest before going again on Monday evening 28th. This time it’s PL International Cup action at the SCL stadium against Monaco KO 7pm.
Monaco drew their opening match in the comp 1-1 at Wolves whereas the Royals overcame Ajax 2-1.
In the 8 team group only the top 2 ( after the 4 matches each) qualify for the next stage.

Dixon finished top scorer in the entire league that year, in a relegated side and missed 3 months of the season with injury.

Good to see Coke Miles Smith getting more minutes....looked decent before his injury.

Antoine Thompson has left his role as head of Academy operations at Reading FC to become an Academy auditor with the Premier league.
Thompson joined the Royals from Cheltenham Town in July 2022 and played a key role in RFC getting Cat 1 status back.
Training ground guru have recently released their 2023/4 Academy productivity rankings and the Royals are 17th out of 86 Academies for producing English qualified players.

I also heard recently a number of staff at academy level have left the club to join Brentford who have Cat 1 aspirations.

Bit of a disappointing performance from us, although Monaco were a good side. Can’t say any of our players really stood out over the 90 minutes although there were some good moments. We were frequently left exposed on either wing and they were just generally quicker in every sense. Their number 4 definitely caught the eye (being about 7 feet tall) and became a favourite with many of the home fans, hat trick from their number 9 consisting of 2 tap ins and a penalty, but a hat trick is a hat trick !

How under strength is our academy though? The best ones are in the first team or got sold to fund the club. Maybe we were outclassed tonight, but the fact we've beaten the likes of Ajax and Spurs recently shows the depth of talent in the academy. The odd result like this is nothing to be ashamed of.

I'm sure Vickers, Harris, Garcia, Wareham and Bindon (who is still a teenager) would have made a difference.

Plus Holzman and Tuma missing tonight.
