Snowflake Royal Well, if the money ran out last month as suggested, we're reliant on sales.

As we're not yet in a transfer window so can't sell any players I wonder if that's why we're effectively selling our manager (as in we're getting some money into the club with him and his backroom staff going)? Perhaps Selles is unselfishly going for the good of the club rather then purely for the personal gain of living in Hull?

As other posters have stated, Hull does seem a strange choice. And that'll be one hell of a school run, given that he currently resides around the Winchester area. For me though, I'm really interested to see how the players respond. They seem to have forged a really strong bond together and with Noel, more than likely, at the helm. In fact, I would suggest that the Wycombe manager may well be thinking 'We could have done without this'.

You can sell a player at any time - he just can't then play for their new club until the registration window opens.

Transfer window is a bit of a misnomer - it's a registation window but naturally clubs don't tend to spend money on players they then can't use for weeks or months (unless injured).

rabidbee I can't believe how little value people are putting on the appeal of working for an employer that reliably pays their wages every month.

Well quite

Don't blame Selles at all. He's been great for us this season and has been a shining light in an otherwise miserable period for the club and I wish him well.

Hull may be a pretty uninspired choice but realistically almost any club at our level or above will be a improvement with our current ownership.

Well the compensation figure being cited is 120k this will be the figure to buy him out of his contract. When was his contract up in the summer? Or next summer? If it was this summer coming. 120k/6 months is 20k per month salary. 5k per week. That’s an indication if you’re he figure is correct of what selles wage was.

He could probably look to at least double if not triple his wages

Good luck to him. I doubt many people would have stuck around this long.

Given he was born in Spain and worked there, Greece, Russia, Azerbaijan, Norway, Denmark and in the south of England, I'm not sure moving to Hull is going to phase him too much. He's probably heard about the cracking pubs in Hull Old Town too. Best of luck Rubén.

That was my thought too. Imagine it, Selles turns up and the owner is sat there with the director of football. There are a plate of bourbons on the table and staff coming in to see if they need extra tea and coffee.

Compare that to here, where I doubt he's spoken to the owner in over a year. He can't communicate with him, he has no idea of even what next month looks like, let alone next year.

He's young and ambitious, probably wants to build a real legacy and achieve things. That is absolutely impossible here.

I would imagine he was thinking "When <the current deal> is completed, we can finally settle and move on". Then each and every time, it is completely screwed up. Couhig-gate I think would have caused the biggest issue. I remember hearing an interview where he was clearly bittlerly disappointed by the deal not going through.

This is the latest from Hull Live:

"Told things are progressing with getting everything signed and sealed. Ruben has been at the training ground today and is expected at the MKM Stadium shortly. The expectation is that he will be at the game tomorrow as planned. We just have to wait for the final details to be signed off, and then the announcement will follow in due course."

Anyone got their coaching badges? Papes?

We suddenly seem a bit short.

Be oxf*rd funny if the takeover went through, we made some good loans in January and went up, passing Hull on the way.

Someone on one of these threads said something about you don't know the stress about working in a place where nothing is certain.

It's something I can certainly sympathise with. My job before this was Deputy Head/Acting Head of a university department being shut down. Every day I woke up to fire fight, man-manage, try to make sure our courses were delivered, presenting a 'we got this' message to the students, all while the university was actively acting to make 33% plus of us redundant and throwing every manner of spanner in the works. All the catering staff were made redundant. 40% of the admin staff were made at risk of redundancy.

The moment something stable is put on the table in front of you, you take it.

Who's been running training for the last 2 days?? Nice of the local media to try and find out what's going on at Bearwood rather than just sitting on their laptops and waiting for Twitter announcements from elsewhere.

I imagine Noel Hunt. People like Oliver Harrington and Josh Bowen are probably involved, assuming they're not going.
