LUX A few random observations:
1. I loved Pereira celebrating us going 3-0 up. Showed a real team spirit.
2. Mbengue is phenomenal. I love him . Did not put a foot wrong today. Got seemingly nasty knocks on at least two occasions, dusted himself off after a minute. Preferred him with the dreadlocks, mind.
3. I do love Smith. I’d hate to play against him.
4. The crowd was reasonable ( over 12 k), but there was no queue for the F1 bus at full time. After other games I’ve had to wait up to half an hour, with the queue snaking back 300 m. The Reading Buses supervisor said it was because there are absolutely no trains today, anywhere. I subsequently confimred this at the station.

Yeah, trains don't run on Boxing Day, found that bizarre, was the reason I didn't go to the Peterborough game last season.

Schmeichel the dog Really important to have got back to winning ways after a couple of poor results (including a worryingly bad performance against Blackpool). Despite being helped by the fact that Northampton were one of the worst teams we’ve faced this season it was a needed confidence boost nonetheless. I have it from an ITK that the players were truly devastated by Selles leaving and I think that came through in Smith’s post match interview on BBCRB. Also this game highlighted how reliant we or on three or four players to carry the team. I am genuinely worried about January with the vultures circling around the likes of Bindon, Knibbs and Wing, though it’s sounding inevitable that at least one or two will go. It’s so sad to think that this is maybe one of the last times we get to see this promising group of young players together thanks to the complete incompetence and indifference of a truly loathsome group of individuals who seem hell bent on destroying the club.

There should be no doubt that Selles leaving would have had an absolutely massive impact on the players mentally - he had created a massive "us against the world" mentality and then, almost at the first opportunity he leaves taking 2 popular staff members with him.
No-one in their right mind would blame Selles but also anyone thinking that performances and/or results would not take a dip is probably not thinking critically enough.
