I disagree and this kind of thing just sounds like the type of tripe people on Twitter continually bang on about. It just seems like nit picking to me. People want a Martin Tyler or Clive Tyldesley quality broadcast on local radio for Burton vs Reading.

Watch a game whilst listening to his commentary.

He gets the players wrong constantly. He never corrects an error he makes. He scapegoats some players, and lionises others for no good reason. He talks absolute crap. He ignores the game to talk about what him and Mick are up to regularly. He doesn't understand the laws.

He's dreadful.

Not having a complete dig but the best Mick's been recently was the game he was sat at home for.

Tim is the one blocking the sale

RC probably included getting in a competent broadcaster.

It confuses me why he gets so much stick to be quite honest. He's an avid fan, his wife, his family has supported the club for years. I've listened to other local broadcasters and they're of the same quality or worse.

I also don't understand why so many target him, when the likes of Ady Williams is on air, who has all the charisma, intellect and brain capacity as a dung beetle

I have less of a problem with Dellor than it seems many others do, but I wish he’d try to keep up with changes to the game. A month ago he was annoyed that a ref allowed an uncontested drop ball - it’s been the rule since 2019, I think. In the last game he complained about a decision of the ref which ‘might have been correct to the letter of the law, but…’ What else does he expect a ref to do? I know he covers a number of other sports too (less cricket talk please, Tim), but just try to stay abreast of the game.

I like Mick. I want to still th8nk he's good. But he's past his sell by date and Dellor's really brought him down to his level.

At least Tim doesn’t begin every sentence with, “Listen…” or “Let me tell you…” It amazes me that the BBC don’t nip that sort of thing in the bud, but they allowed Zoe Ball to describe everything that anyone had done as “phenomenal” for ages, before eventually stamping it out. TBF to Tim, he is far more balanced in his style than many other in similar roles around the country.

All the local sports journalism is very poor. The only place I can get a proper match report from is the Tilehurst End and those guys do it for nothing.

I get the impression that during the week the local sports press is just a couple of guys sat on lap tops waiting for ITK's or national press updates on X.

They need to be like the local MP who at least is making some effort in finding stuff out.

Beat me to it. Getting players names wrong is not nit picking, it's fundamental to his job. Was it the Rotherham game earlier in the season that he didn't know whether Kelvin or Garcia had been sent off and thought one of them had been subbed?

He is dreadful.

Ady Williams is also dreadful, but for me, he plays the role of antagoniser with "differing" views to get people to call and text in. I'm 90% sure he doesn't believe half the stuff he says.

Tim and Mick have become stale and outdated - time for a change.

Whilst the club acknowledges the previously failed transactions are disappointing for everyone, especially our supporters, it is anticipated the legal and due diligence work completed so far will prove advantageous when trying to move new bids forward.

To be fair, this is in line with what many of us suspect(ed).

The transfer stuff confirms that we've done alright this window, I think, and that it wasn't random chance we got that outcome.

One hopes, and it is likely a forlorn hope, that now the window is closed, the squad is about as strong as it was when we went into it (no idea if Bodin will fill Smith's shoes but he could do - then moving the sale forward should be smoother if a) the interested parties really are interested and b) Dai is actually willing to sell.

It is a very small positive that he does seem to be actually meeting some of his financial responsibilites at the moment.

I find it basically unlistenable tbh

For me Dellor is slightly the best of the trio but it’s an incredibly low bar

+1 to the top bit

-1 to the Dellor bit, he's the worst of a very bad bunch!

I'm always reminded of Joel Hufford when this comes up. He was outstanding.

And having listened to the commentary of other clubs a fair few times, the standard is usually much better than Dellor.

Pretty much. Or if they didn't certainly others here did.

Amazing how they have so many credible buyers, multiple of which have been worthy of lengthy exclusivity discussions, but that nothing ever materialises as actually happening.

Because Dai wants more than we're worth, and the others seemingly won't be tricked into overpaying. That's my take on it anyway.

Not formally, no.

18th September 2024

Reading Football Club would like to provide an update on the sale of the Club.

Over recent weeks and months, Mr Dai and his representatives have been in exclusive dialogue with a potential purchaser. Despite lengthy and complex negotiations, the parties have been unable to find an agreement. This exclusivity period has now expired, and the Club will pursue alternative options.

The Club acknowledges and appreciates the financial support provided by the potential purchaser during recent months. All loans have now been paid back to the potential purchaser in full along with the accrued interest.

Whilst an agreement was not found on this occasion, Mr Dai remains committed to the sale of Reading Football Club and provisions are in place to fund the Club until a transaction is completed.

The Club would like to thank all stakeholders, especially its staff and supporters, for their continued patience and will communicate further updates once appropriate.

November 2024

Reading Football Club would like to provide an update following the club's last formal communication on 7th October 2024.

In the previous statement it was confirmed negotiations had begun with a party looking to purchase the club, this process remains ongoing. The transaction has proved to be a complicated and lengthy process, however despite these obstacles, both the selling and buying parties remain committed to complete at the earliest opportunity.

While discussions remain ongoing, the day-to-day operations remain in place with the club navigating cashflow challenges to meet its obligations. Full focus will remain on operating as prudently as possible until the sale is completed to new investors who can take the club forward.

The club understands our supporters' eagerness for a resolution to the ongoing sales process. We are committed to providing updates when substantive information is available, or at least monthly until the sales process is complete.

October 2024

Reading Football Club can provide an update to all stakeholders, especially its supporters, regarding the ongoing sales process and transfer embargo status.

The Club can confirm it has agreed to a period of exclusivity with a potential purchaser. Both parties are working hard to finalise terms with the intention to complete a sale at the earliest opportunity. This exclusivity period also includes further provision to fund the club until the transaction’s intended completion.

The proposed sale will include Mr Dai’s shareholding in The Reading Football Club Limited, as well as the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground.

As of today, the Club can also confirm that - alongside the requirement to operate under the terms of its business plan - it has today been placed under a formal registration embargo by the EFL (English Football League).

This embargo has been implemented, as per EFL regulations, due to the late filing of financial accounts to Companies House, and relates to the 2022-23 accounting period. We are working closely with our auditing partner to finalise these accounts at the earliest opportunity – at which point the embargo will be lifted immediately.

Further developments for both the takeover and embargo status will be communicated at the earliest opportunity, and the Club and would like to thank all supporters and staff for their patience during this time.

All Dai has ever done since this process started is look for a mug to pay the bills for a few months, so he doesn't have to do it himself.

He has no intention of going anywhere, and any interested parties must know that by now.

Despite getting Olise money in the Summer and Azeez money, and having a bare bones squad with very few non academy players, we are still heavily loss making.

Gives you an idea of what would be expected of a future new owner. Absorb day-to-day losses despite making good money on player sales. Also buy new players. Also give better contracts to existing ones.

We're just a massive money pit.

Fair.

This dates from September

The good news is that if there is another transaction coming anytime soon that all the DD’s have been done. All the nooks and crannies and structural stuff has been through the lawyers and they’ve got it in a data room. In theory, anybody coming in we can go ‘We will give you that’ that’s yours, you can’t take take X amount of time now because we’ve given it to you as a package. You don’t have to ask us questions, read it first and then ask us questions.

...

What I’m doing at the moment is making sure that all the senior management is properly briefed. Hopefully the quantum of documents put in place can purely be novated over and given to any new purchaser.

That was the first time I'd seen it in a formal club statement.

Although

How about Dayong Pang?

I speak to Dayong Pang a lot.

Is he still located in the UK?

He is, yes.

Is he actively working on a deal?

I have no idea.
