How strong is his link with Michael Dell? He is worth >$100bn.

For a guy looking to build a portfolio he seems to have stepped away from 2 clubs quite quickly. The Danish experiment seemed to be a disaster but the Italian club may have made him money ? Not a good sign though that he’s been involved in 3 clubs and exited from 2 of them….

This is potentially a big step from Couhig in terms of ambition. The risk from past experience is execution, but they are more experienced now.

Hey, an owner than can complete a sale would be an improvement on the current situation.

Shows our level of expectation that the main quality we are looking for in a potential buyer is the ability to get rid of us again efficiently !

Brogue

one for bemused thread i guess, but what the fcuk has LinkedIn become? why has it got football articles on it :|

To be fair, it's a business platform. That includes football, sports, etc. Brian McDermott is on there, Hal Robson-Kanu, several FA coaches, etc.

Fair point, but I'd prefer to be owned by someone with only 1 other club in their portfolio, than by an owner with multiple other clubs to worry about.

Ideally, we'd be owned by someone whose only focus is Reading FC, of course.

The owner in these circumstances generally just controls policy and finances for each club, they usually install a CEO who takes ownership of the day to day operation and implementation of the overall policy and budget at the local level, while the owner would just visit on odd occasions to say hello, give direction if needed and show face etc. Therefore it’s that CEO appointment that would be of interest to us as they’d be the ones fronting up the relationship with the media and fans etc. issues would only start up if they’re a control freak and interfere in everything everywhere.

If it's multi club ownership, we may do well in recruitment. A player tearing up the Championship will command a higher fee than any in the Portuguese league except the big ones like Porto and Benfica.

If you're looking to rake in transfer revenue, get us promoted and we're the cash cow.

Well if it goes to shit and he looks to sell us after a year or two that’s still better than going to shit and having an owner that isn’t selling the club. So to be honest I don’t really care how the next couple of years go as long as we get dai out.

This is it really, worst case scenario will be financial security and sporting failure, which is a nice change from worrying about going bust and whether the wages/taxes have been paid. I think most of us would settle for boring stability on and off the pitch right now.

It's hard to get excited right now. Still convinced Dai won't sell.

But big if, if this guy becomes our next owner then more exciting times could be finally heading back after what's mostly been 12 miserable years.

Echo this - at this stage it’s just getting Dai out and the prospect of still being a club here in 5 years time

And the sooner this happens the better

I do reckon that Couhig was trying to squeeze as much value out of the purchase of the club as possible which no doubt rubbed Dai the wrong way, sometimes you just need someone to come in and give what's being asked for, no haggling.

Casa Pia seem to be a very small side - regional leagues until about four or five years ago. It's possible we'll be the biggest club in any multi-club model, so could be very good for player development if we can get back to the Championship or higher.

Unless there's other serious interest at the same time, and hence a potential bidding war, that doesn't tend to happen. These people don't get seriously rich by being charitable and not haggling.
