Interesting read.
It is. Would have to question why Soton are taking out an 80m loan at 9% interest, Wham a 120m loan also at 9%
No wonder the company are loaded

Sutekh Hope this is it at least so the accounts get published, as the current mess means the FL prevents Reading’s ability to remain competitive into next season by banning the club from being able to negotiate and offer extensions to players coming out of contract in the summer. Surely the two parties should be talking on this and if there is a valid reason why the club can’t publish accounts then there shouldn’t be an embargo.

We aren't banned from negotiating contracts this summer.

ILoveMoonPig I'm not sure I understand how the potential new buyers can lend money to so many clubs. Didn't we once (back in the prem days with AZ) get in trouble for borrowing money from some company (was it vibrac?) who had also lent money to Aston Villa? It seemed strange to me at the time that we got punished for that, but even stranger now. Did I just completely misunderstand?

Reading could negotiate with anyone but the club is banned from actually offering deals or extending existing contracts for any player, including those already contracted to the club, until the embargo is lifted. Everything would have to go to the FL, even existing players renewing on existing terms.

How many times do we have to go through this? You're here more than enough to have seen it multiple times.
We can negotiate contracts, we can sign players.... up to a limit of twenty whatever with a professional appearance.

But hasn’t it also been established that we will have that number still signed on over the summer ? That’s a question, but I thought someone had worked out we had a huge number of players with at least 1 first team appearance and who were not OOC this summer.

No, because we don’t know what the youth contracts are and we only have about 5 senior players contracted beyond that.

Most if not all of the academy players who have featured this term for the first team are OOC in the summer; there's a thread on here somewhere...from memory there may be 3 or 4 unknown positions on the list.
Noel confirmed to the press yesterday that the embargo means we can only replace like for like (as an EFL exception) so as said above we can replace Bouzanis now.
Assume we could therefore offer contracts to get up to the required number but not until July (if the accounts aren't published).
