Extended-Phenotype
Armadillo Roadkill
Extended-Phenotype The problem is, if/when Dai screws over Platek and HE holds Dai to account, the dipshit contingent of our fans will vocally turn on him as well. I'm uncertain about how they think spreading unfounded hatred about potential buyers helps sell the club.

As well as massively over simplifying what I and some others are saying, it seems you're calling me a dipshit. That's not very nice, is it?

You're living in a fantasy land if you think Dai does all this just for fun, because he's somehow got some grievance against Reading supporters that he spent £200 million of his own money just to píss them off by letting the club fold rather than sell.

We don't know why Couhig's sale fell through. Maybe it would have been best it it hadn't, but it happened. No need for him to then launch a court case for some outlandish sum. It has definitely not helped things, even if it's not an absolute blocker.

If Platek has a reasonable case against Dai at some point in the future I'd evaluate it for its merits or otherwise. Same as with Couhig.

And I do think Couhig, should he end up as owner, will need to convince a section of supporters that he's not (a) going to asset strip the club and (b) his legal shenanigans were a justified part of the process to get the club out of Dai's hands.

Not sure where you are getting that I think Dai is doing anything for fun. I just don’t believe he has seriously ever wanted to sell and stringing interested buyers along with promises and agreements has got him in hot water. Why he doesn’t want to sell is a complete mystery even to those trying to deal with him. My hunch is that he is hanging out for a windfall, keeping things going for as long as possible for either a big bid to come in due to promotion, or for our collapse as a club so he can sell up the stadium and land for redevelopment. Shrug, but that’s just conjecture. Much like all the stuff about Couhig constantly changing the price, deliberately trying to scupper our sale out of pride, dismantling the women’s football team (how, exactly?) or intending to asset strip us if his bid was successful.

Difference is, I’m not promoting my conjecture as fact. And I’m certainly not engaging in the sort of spin that might make past, current or future interested parties think twice about buying us. If all this could be the pressure that finally forces Dai to let go, and could be part of a plan with our best interests somewhere in the mix, why risk that? oxf*rd hell, the foaming hate hard-on people have for RC on Twitter puts ME off our oxf*rd club, I don’t know what it looks like to others.

Would agree, there seems something very peculiar about Dai and his supposed desire to sell. Trouble is now is the end of the road for him, he can no longer “hang on for a windfall”. If he is holding out to get rid of the team element so he’s got prime assets he thinks can sell for more ££££s, he may find he has even more problems as who wants stadia with no club to play/train in them and likely expensive legal wrangling to remove the caveats attached on their usage before they can be converted to retail or residential use?.

Just wish we had faith in him being logical and ready to sell quickly for what will be the last chance to maximise the value of what he does currently own.

At the end of the day we’re all just sick to death of this not knowing, not trusting anything and not having a proper football club and just want an end to it all whether that’s with RC or RP or someone completely different as a new owner.

https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2025/march/27/club-statement-update/

Reading Football Club would like to provide a full and detailed update on various matters.

As was the case in the club statement dated 24th February, exclusivity remains in place with the proposed purchaser, with the sales proposal including the club, Select Car Leasing Stadium, and Bearwood Park Training Facility. All parties remain positive in the desire to complete a transaction at the earliest possible opportunity.

Regarding the ongoing litigation case with Mr Couhig and last Friday’s Commercial Court hearing, the club can confirm that a formal proposal for alternative security has been made to Mr Couhig via his legal representatives. It is hoped that the proposal will be agreed quickly in resolution of the current security impasse, to facilitate the sales process.

The club would also like to clarify the current position with the EFL, and Mr Dai’s disqualification as a Director. Under the terms of the disqualification, Mr Dai must now divest his interests in Reading Football Club and is committed to doing so to meet this requirement.

Following earlier discussion with the EFL, the time allowed for the divestment to take place was extended until Saturday 5th April. Whilst the EFL Board ultimately has the power within its regulations to suspend the club amongst its options if Mr Dai’s interests are not divested by this date, we remain in close dialogue with the league with the full intention of avoiding this eventuality.

The club can also confirm it has submitted its 2022/23 accounts to Companies House earlier this week, lifting the associated transfer embargo. Whilst the aim is to reconcile and submit the 2023/24 accounts as soon as possible, the club’s current position means it is highly unlikely these accounts will be filed before the EFL’s March 31st deadline at which point we will be placed under a new transfer embargo until the matter is resolved.

In the meantime, the day-to-day operations of the club will continue, and we would like to thank all staff and players for their commitment as we reach the final stages of the 2024/25 season. The First Team performance this campaign has been outstanding, and all focus is on a strong finish in the hunt for a top six place . At Academy level, there is an evident strong pathway for young talent to emerge, perhaps most notably with the Under 18 side reaching the Premier League U18 Cup Final next month.

To our fans, thank you for the consistent and unwavering support at all levels of the club. Your desire to see the sale completed is acknowledged and shared from all those associated with our fantastic club, and there is strong hope a resolution for this will be found imminently.

Yeah, was going to say - seems to be quite a lot of new bits of information/confirmation of things that were unknown.

It's quite nice that they're actually addressing these issues directly.

Might as well as they won't have too in a number of months when we are gone.

A mature update, not sugar coating things.

I feel like it's a good sign that after Friday, Platek (we presume) is still interested and they're working on getting the deal done.

Must admit - as I've only dipped in to the detail on occasion, that I'd missed that we are subject to suspension from the EFL in just eight days. :o

Assuming this statement is true (which I do) then it confirms what most of us think and what we've cobbled together as the position from multiple sources. At least the club are communicating with the supporters now.

The only really positive thing is that everyone's best interests are served by the club being sold - everyone loses if it's not.

Ok, let`s make up something that`s not true to keep the fans happy.
For me this is a very detailed and dare I say encouraging statement, there`s still bridges to cross but for me this is the most promising message we`ve had from the club since this whole sorry mess surfaced.

More words saying more or less the same old.

At least saying them makes it seem there’s some hope out there.

Come on one and all, you can find a quick and satisfying for everyone agreement that finally puts an end to this saga once and for all. Then we can start working on getting the next set of accounts published.

If the club can convince the EFL that the sales process is progressing it won`t happen.

Maybe we should have negotiated with Couhig as long time ago instead of going through a spurious court case.

If Couhig rejects the new proposal, are we confident that we can convince the EFL of that?

It's mildly more complicated, but yeah. Bg reveal came in the court case, then it has been a discussion of whether its a deadline of 4th April or 30 days after that or not really a deadline at all.
