MATCHWATCH : Peterborough United (h)

by Sutekh » 25 Mar 2025 10:22

When : Saturday March 29, 2025, 3pm
Where : SCL Stadium, Reading, RG2 0FL
Capacity : 24,161

Peterborough next.

Not sure if anyone really cares any more after Dai's continuing silent cr@pness towards everyone trying to take the club on.

It's going to be as hard as it gets for the players, I think as they may well be struggling after last Friday's events brought no good news and left them with the realisation they could all (except Tyler Bindon) be dumped on the scrapheap as of 3rd May whether Reading pull off a miracle and qualify for the play offs or not.

Meanwhile the 'boro are one of the form teams of the division with 4 wins and 3 draws from their last 7 league games. On top of that they've kept 2 successive clean sheets so are going to be very hard to break down too.

Midfielders Malik Mothersille and Kwame Poku (21 goals between them so far) are the threats to Reading, but the team have scored 55 times in the league so are rather lively overall. Much fancied striker Ricky Jade-Jones is also standing out as the next to fall off the Peterborough striker conveyor belt into the higher divisions.

Elliott is close to a return and might make the bench but don't think there will be too many changes from the XI that struggled against the Stevenage bus last time out.

Referee

Adam Herczeg

Previously

21 Dec 24 > Lincoln City 2-0 Reading
07 Nov 24 > Reading 1-1 Bristol Rovers

Historically

Reading have won 10 of the previous 18 league games played at home against Peterborough and have been beaten just twice (by 1-0 on both occasions) in that run so there is some form behind this one to live up to, trouble is that the state everything is in at the moment there might not be enough oomph to get things going either amongst fans or players!

How to follow the game

  1. Get a ticket and travel to the game
  2. Listen to Radio 5 Live and/or a myriad of other radio stations for score flashes
  3. Ring/text a mate for updates
  4. Use a RoyalsTV subscription
  5. BBC Radio Berkshire (FM : 104.4, 104.1 or 95.4 depending where you are in the area)

If we get anything out of this given the off-field kick in the gonads from last week, then it will prove that Noel is destined for a career in management regardless as to whatever happens at the end of the season.

Haven't felt quite so flat for a game for ages.

This whole saga still has plenty of twists and turns! with todays news regarding the accounts being published i clearly see this as a positive and lets face it, if we do only have "X" amount of games left then lets show everyone what Reading Fc was all about.
Lets pack out the stadiums and show then what they will be missing.

From Noel's update on the OS it doesn't sound like anyone from the injured list is back yet and Garcia came back on crutches after getting injured with England and is doubtful for Sat.....

Elliott still not in contact training, Dorsett getting there but slowly.

Mbengue is ahead of schedule though and sounds like he's back in contact training next week.

Is that the weakest back 4 we've ever had? Was fairly confident going into the game, but that line up is not great...

6 defenders out....Bindon, Mbengue, Dean centre halves; Craig and Garcia full backs & Dorsett who can play either.
