morganb New names in the frame -

BREAKING: I have received word from a very good source that the owner of Boston Bruins ice hockey team, Jeremy Jacobs, is in negotiations to buy Reading FC.

https://x.com/secret_transfer/status/19 ... BzTCw&s=19

And

I had heard another person was interested. but it wasn’t this guy. I was informed Saad Kassis-Mohamed was interested.

From Twitter (some randomer / our ol' mate Huang) so a large pinch of salt recommended

This is pretty bleak and does seem to confirm that if there's no tangible sale progress next week (which Couhig has claimed is the case) than suspension may be the only option.

And....what is progress given exclusivity is in place? Deal done??

So suspension isn`t expulsion (yet) that would do wonders for ST sales and player contracts won`t it?

Dim is saying the full £12m escrow has been proposed, if that`s rejected we`re done.

Couhig wants £12m
Dai has ring fenced £12m in escrow
Therefore what is there to be agreed?
If Couhig wins the full amount (unlikely?) then he'll get the full amount from the account - it's sat there waiting
If he wins less then Dai gets the remaining balance returned

The FL have to be very careful given the league situation as it obviously impacts a large number of clubs and the overall integrity of the division. Going to be very interesting how they react if there has been no discernible movement towards selling.

But I think they will see some small positive change which may be enough to at least allow Reading to carry on until Easter (as the only games left from then on are likely to be dead rubbers).

Really don’t think any of these help given the club is meant to be in exclusivity with parties currently so the last thing we want is yet more court cases because it’s been breached again.

How would that be possible if Dai is in exclusive discussions with Platek? Surely Dai wouldn't be breaching an exclusivity agreement. :o

He’s reviewing it over the weekend I believe.

If he accepts it then presume that means he won’t be buying the club.

Presume also that it means there has been progress with Platek otherwise where did the club suddenly find £12m?

And if there’s been progress the FL should be satisfied enough to extend the deadline.

That wasn't what Rob told me yesterday evening. Unless something has changed today, which lets hope it has and what he says is correct, then we are waiting for Rob to review the deal. Rob corrected me when I suggested this was the case.

Do you think he has even considered what the demise of RFC would mean for BBC Radio Berks football coverage and staff...

Maybe that will shake some out of their complacency

They certainly practice well for life without them, plenty of horse racing and rowing at every opportunity and rarely any interest in non league, despite a decent number of senior non league clubs in the area that have been doing really well over recent seasons.
