windermereROYAL Dim is saying the full £12m escrow has been proposed, if that`s rejected we`re done.

That wasn't what Rob told me yesterday evening. Unless something has changed today, which lets hope it has and what he says is correct, then we are waiting for Rob to review the deal. Rob corrected me when I suggested this was the case.

Tim already backpedalling - https://x.com/TimDellor/status/1905709028401111434

Tim is going to reach out to Couhig

Why has it taken him so long?

Looks like R4Eva has started something :D

Someone else in BBC has beaten him to it....

STAR'S update suggests suspension could well be on the cards, but very little discussion of when that turns into expulsion. We could be suspended for the remainder of the season, forfeit all our matches and still finish 17th. Then the loss of match income brings about insolvency at which point Couhig has control and we start the 2025/26 season in L1 with a new owner. Though I suppose that would undermine the league's integrity; for example Wrexham won't be happy if Wycombe are awarded 3 points at a ground they lost at. Or whoever Lincoln are meant to be playing on Easter Monday with them having no game on Friday.

So we're beyond the looking glass really. I would presume expulsion is the final final resort, given the Smith and Bindon money would otherwise see us complete the season. And of course that would be unfair too. Try selling Stockport their 6 points against us don't count - what would that do for the play off race when Charlton only lose 1?

If the sale isn't done on time, they'll schedule the date to decide on suspension/kicking us to coincide with us completing our games.

If it goes through in the meantime, everything is roses, if not, we'll likely be voted out.

Rob is clear that he’d want to buy the club and his securities mean Dai can’t just liquidate the club like he did with Roeslaere and Rehne. If Dai tries that he’d have to negotiate with Rob so Rob putting securities onto the club’s assets could be the best thing that could have been done in the circumstances.

I presume that if Rob rejects the escrow proposal it would be over the terms and conditions attached to it rather than the actual offer itself. If he did reject the actual offer then you would think that would adversely affect his case v Dai in June so not something he’d do lightly.

Seems weird to sign Carroll last month if we have no money this month.

Not sure I believe things are so bad as all that

The update from STAR following their discussion with the club on the financials said that the money from Smith had covered wages until the end of Feb. The figure banded around for Bindon was £700k so that won't go far.

Platek has supposedly said he will cover shortfalls if the Couhig issue is sorted, but what if it isn't?

Who at the club would sanction not one but two signings in Bodin and Caroll if there is no money to pay them?

If we are suspended for the rest of the season, our results would be expunged, and we would be relegated, even if we weren't expelled.

All of our players would probably effectively be free agents if we couldn't pay them.

No one is putting external money in. The EFL looks at everything we do with a fine tooth comb.
If we really were at deaths door, who, and I am being serious, who, would sanction the wages, signing on fees, and agents fees required to facilitate two signings who aren't even going to play?

Then what does that make the FL?

That's the next hurdle. If Couhig rejects the escrow then I presume Playtex will pull out and Couhig will re-enter the saga as front runner with the club then hanging by a thread as an impasse is reached. Hey presto! The FL suspend Reading w.e.f. Easter period (so the games that mean something v Blackpool and Wycombe can get played) and we shambles on until the crunch of early June when either the schoolboy starts talking to RC to finally resolve it or the club is thrown out of the FL.

I don't think this will rumble on until early June.

Clubs need to know which division they are in before that, so they can plan accordingly, and the EFL won't want League One to potentially have 23 teams in it next season. I do think that unless there are concrete signs that a deal is about to happen, we are gone on the 4th of May. Even if it looks like a sale is imminent, there will probably be a very tight extension.

It doesn't make them anything.
