Armadillo Roadkill Any idea if the sale has to be confirmed or to have actually gone through and be completed by the last date (i.e. just before the AGM, assuming this is correct)? I've lost track.

I think no one will believe it's real until Dai has signed a contract. Until then, no one can trust anything he says and does after the Couhig deal collapsed at the 11th hour and 59th minute.

Biscuit goalie What is the prize money for winning the playoffs?

Don't think there is any. It's league placing. And then share of the tv and attendance money, which (in the Championship at least) gets donated to the loser/rest of the league by the winner.

If it was me I wouldn't be satisfied until the new owner was in place, all documents and monies paid, and Dai had no connection to RFC whatsoever. I agree he's hardly shown himself to be trustworthy.

But is that the only condition the EFL will accept, or is there a point of no return before that they would accept? Everything being fully done by the very latest date possible still seems like a big ask.

Saturday was the first time I really thought I should try to remember this, as it could be one of the very last times we see a Reading FC side take to the field.

What would the last home game be like if things aren't sorted, as seems almost inevitable?

I guess it will come down to the fact that certain aspects take time and that time barely exists before Friday, so there will likely be an acceptance on the EFL side that as long as "X" point has been hit on the takeover they are comfortable. They may even be happy if they are given a timetable to completion and as long as each milestone is met then no issue but as soon as one is missed a decision could be made.

Though aside from the Couhig issue, I'm not sure why it should take a long time. It was said in the autumn that a sale should be quick as the amount of due diligence already completed and documented is so high. So really the key is demonstrating we have unblocked Couhig.

No more of this "it's complicated" bullshit. You've been selling for 18 months.

It's all very well if RC agrees to the ESCROW but, surely, he then needs to get his lawyers talking to DY's lawyers to release the liens on Bearwood and the stadium and, involving lawyers, means it's not as straightforward or quick as it should be.

I think the EFL will need to see a process happening. If there's no movement and nothing happening, that'll be curtains, but as long as something is moving in the right direction they'll avoid the ultimate sanction for as long as possible.

Escrow is a word, not an acronym. Doesn’t need any capital letters.

Do you disagree that for as long as possible is still only a couple of months away max, and they won't countenance this dragging into a third season?

We have 8-10 weeks max, but I feel the takeover will happen this time. No inside knowledge, but I feel confident.

Yeah, there is no way they let this drag on another season.

It's almost for the best of all involved at this point.

I think it's more about likelihood of a sale actually happening that absolute dates. They'll be monitoring the process
and trying to gauge the seriousness of Dai in actually making it happen - if he shows signs of stalling or not co-operating then who knows what their next move will be?

But as long as things are moving forward I think they'll be as flexible as they can - from my past dealings with them, and from what they've consistently said, their primary objective is to not lose any of their member clubs, so expulsion will be an absolute last resort option.

I won't believe its real until the contract is signed, a wet signature version is couriered to me and I have had my own lawyer go through it and let me know he is happy to confirm its signed.

I'd give it a few months to check it's not that ink that disappears over time.

I fear the most we will get from Dai is a wet willy (that is a finger in the ear for the uninitiated)
